Looking at trading my gas Willys for a diesel Rubicon. There are a few available and one has a great price (I think) but it has 60k miles. Is that too much mileage for 2021? I know diesels tend to last very long but I have no experience with a Jeep diesel. Thanks.

There's a specific sub-forum here for the diesels. You'd be wise to spend some time in there and reading. Keep in mind too that for every person in a forum having an issue, there are thousands who aren't and don't bother telling the world that everything's good.

Been lurking around the diesel sub forums and didn't really find anything about used with moderate mileage. Seen a lot about the pimp issue.

I don't know what the price on that used is, but I'm seeing loaded farout final edition diesels for under 50k, unless it's a screaming deal id rather have the power train warranty and diesel emissions warranties.

The diesel to me is like my wife's 4xe. Great power, great power train, no chance id want it out of warranty just because the off chance of repair is too expensive in my eyes.

Do you have any specific needs for the diesel over the gasser?
Towing? Hauling? Just like diesels?
All three. We have a camper and a flat bed trailer that we use to move our tractor and the occasional trip to the lumber yard. We live on 18 acres in the mountains at 7,300 feet and when towing you feel the effects of high elevation. Not bad to really justify a diesel but being that the 3.0 is turbo it would be less affected by higher elevation.

None of your business :)
I've owned diesel over the years and modern diesel engines (coupled with emissions) is NOT like the old days where ya simply change oil at 10k miles and these things literally run for 300k.

Main thing with modern diesel engines (especially the emissions which is more likely to fail BEFORE the engine) is maintenance. Ya gotta do maintenance religiously! Not 10k interval....5k if wheeling a lot or doing tons of short drives (regen is a bytch). 8k for regular driving. Change the articulate filter at this time as well. Ya gotta keep up with maintenance otherwise the soot buildup will break down the emission really really quick. Emission really changes the reliability factor. Always prime the engine and let it warm up before driving. Then diesel fuel is NOT consistent...if ya have a truck stop or Costco, fill up there. Diesel and water is no bueno for emissions. And keep up the DEF fluid.

So yeah, a lot depends on prev history on this vehicle. If ya cant get any service history nor the intervals, I'd stay away. Diesel is fun, great milege but these modern drivetrains also requires timely maintenance and the caveats that go with diesel.

There are 4 new diesel Willys at my local dealer with leather, heated seats, bedliner, tow pack, body color top with headliner and switch group. I've been trying to get them to bring the price at 25% under but they are not budging. The one I like is at $12,700 under. Honestly
That’s the best typo ever on this forum… ?
LOL. Pump. Phone autocorrect had something else in its mind.

Very good points. I came from a '21 Sierra AT4 3.0 Duramax and was spoiled by that engine. I did keep up with the maintenance intervals. That engine on the Gladiator would have been killer.

I got over 36,000 miles on my '22 JTRD. It's been trouble free. Change oil every 5000 to 6000 miles. Fuel filter every 10,000 miles.

Wish I had a pimp pump.

Pimp pumps are hard to come by they only come as part of the Gladiator Snoop Dog Pimp package.
