Stellantis harvests a huge amount of data, which is shared with insurance companies and can result in increased rates. Plus, it's creepier than my ex who never stopped calling me. Here's how to opt-out:

Go to this link for more information:
https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2024/...ws-about-you-and-opt-out-sharing-when-you-can

Request a copy of your data from Stellantis, opt out, and request deletion here: https://privacyportal.onetrust.com/...58479fce/664c75ee-ee67-4927-90fe-34d84d7e6fd1

There's also information here about opting out of telematics gathered by Sirius, although I've found them nearly impossible to deal with because they claim they have no data connection while also admitting they send promotional advertisements to the vehicle: https://privacy4cars.com/

The "privacy portal" link only lets you take actions depending upon the laws in your state. As a NC resident, the only option available to me is "Opt-Out of Direct Marketing". No ability to review, correct, or delete the data they may have collected.

I'm not saying you should look at options in states like California that are more friendly, but I'm also not sure how they would know what state you live in if you don't tell them.

This page has SiriusXM's Privacy Policy, information on the data they collect, state-specific information, and instructions on how to opt out of selling of personal data. Notice you can only opt-out of sale, and not collection.

Anybody figure out what module or antenna to rip out /disconnect from their Gladiator to prevent collection of this data in the first place? I found there was a box with an antenna that had some IMEI data printed on it in the dashboard around the lighting switches/toggles around the driver's knee while working on a project to install an OEM 120v outlet in the bed. I considered disconnecting it, but was worried about throwing codes and at the time was in a rush to put the truck back together. I'd happily give up the ability to use SiriusXM and make emergency calls if it would prevent yet another company being able to collect an uncomfortable amount of data on me.

The problem is to opt out, you first have to opt-in to their service. They won't do anything with just a VIN and swear up down and sideways they don't have any data unless you have an account - something we know is a lie.

I would love to know where the module is and whether I can disconnect it without causing issues.

I don't know about modules, but this prompted me to browse the parts catalog a bit. I found two relevant antennas:

This Satellite Antenna, which is the one I found behind the dash around the driver's left knee. It requires a fair bit of disassembly to get to. Since this appears to be the only satellite antenna, disconnecting it would probably reduce or break the truck's ability to receive signals from Sirius and quite likely also GPS for navigation. The Satellite antenna is probably receive only, so it likely wouldn't eliminate any ability to upload data from the truck.

This LTE Antenna is probably the one to disconnect/disable. If whatever module this connects to remains connected, disconnecting this antenna may/may not prevent the truck from sending data, but it certainly would at least reduce the chances. I have no idea where this thing sits, but just by judging from appearance, maybe on top of the roll bar somewhere? I've gone through this in other vehicles, and it seems common that disconnecting the entire module may cause a variety of faults, though it may be worth trying (for those of us that would give up a little convenience for a little bit of privacy).

Wrapping it with some faraday cloth should refer it useless and maybe not throw any codes like disconnecting it.

You need to look up ”Mobilisights”. They are a third party with whom stellantis has “entrusted” it’s $20 Billion (with a B) in projected incremental annual revenues from all of their data through 2030.

Manufacturers aren’t providing this data to insurance Companies out of the goodness of their hearts.

It would probably be wise to determine what sort of contracts Mobilisights has in place with Big Insurance, and if there are SLAs that must be met that require all vehicles to transmit this data.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all If you are unable to stop the data collection in any meaningful fashion when there are billions of dollars being paid by other companies for access to this data. It also wouldn’t surprise me if Stellantis is required to make the collection mandatory and not able to be disabled by users.

No offense, and I say this with complete sincerity: Stellantis will gladly lose a handful of customers who get pissed about things like this, because it takes a whole lot of customers to make a billion in pure profit.

Im not saying you should settle for it if you hate it, but you simply don’t have a choice.

I'm still trying to understand what the big concern is. The only 'personal' information the truck is able to collect is where you go and how much you weigh. None of it is done in real time, it's all after the fact. If you don't want Telematics information transmitted to Jeep, don't buy a truck with a cellular connection. I purposely bought a vehicle I could Remote Start. If sending them Telematics data helps their research improve the product, I'm okay with it since I know they are not getting anything I consider to be private or confidential. If I was really that concerned, I would not pack around a phone with an unlimited internet connection that keeps and reports real-time data on where I go and what I do.

Did you bother to read the links? Car companies sell your driving data to your insurance company (matched by VIN) and your rates go up. It's not about whether or not you care about being tracked, it's about whether you like your money or not.

Your phone company isn't telling your insurance company that you braked too hard because a kid ran in front of you and now you pay $5,000 a year in car insurance.

The antenna is most likely one of the two that sits on the top of the roll bar under the back half of the fiberglass top (just behind the freedom panels). I suspect that a wrap of aluminum foil would prevent any signals since part of The threads on the headliner is to avoid using the aluminized sound deadener over that area.

I’m thinking maybe the RF module is what the LTE is connected to but I’m not certain, just a hunch.

It’s located under the rear bench, driver side according to my dealer that just replaced mine. They had to completely remove the rear bench to replace it. However, it seems that it is deeply integrated in critical functions of the vehicle so disconnecting entirely may not work.

Again, I’m not sure about it but maybe it gives OP a starting point.

The RF module is for the FOB and TPMS sensors. The cellular connection in the head unit provides the link to the outside world.

I didn't read the links, it's just more FUD being spread. Has anyone been able to confirm that Stellantis provides VIN encoded data?

The insurance rates here are affected by poor drivers, scams, and state laws. I've been using AAA Insurance for a long time, with no issues. The first big increase was last year, and it affected everyone statewide.
