$28K sounds about right. This may be a YMMV situation, but I have had decent luck plugging my info into KBB.com and their values have been pretty close to what I have gotten on my last few trades. You just have to separate sentimental value from the equation and be realistic when grading your vehicle.

That's seriously low miles on your 2020. What are you really gaining tho? Is the plan to do more rock crawling? I traded my 2022 High Altitude for a 2023 Rubicon in November--High Altitude had roughly the same miles as yours, but the new '23 Rubicon had more options than the HA. I paid about $20k and my HA. The Rubi was a diesel tho and I knew that this was my last chance to get a new 3.0. Going 3.6 to 3.6, I would have never done it. You just have to ask yourself if you are going to be using what that additional $27k is costing you........

I take it you don't need it for towing and can afford the higher insurance and license fees.
The Rubicon may not get the mpg you get with the lighter, lower sport, so consider that.
A lot of pros and cons either way.
Only you know what fits and your reasoning.

I found the online places like Edmunds, KBB (same basic thing) and some others lowballed me - I got better from a dealer than those places said my 2020 would be worth in trade. KBB was among the lowest and hounded me for weeks wanting to by my 2020 JT. I finally wrote the lady and said - dealer gave me more than your cash offer to buy mine, so no deal.

You'll likely find online numbers all over the place. But based on my 2022 trade value as of a couple of months ago, I'd say your number may not be far off.

Dealers are paying a little more for them at Manheim. Quite a few transactions to support the price.

With that low of miles I’d expect over $30K but what you have working against you are the discounts on new 2022 and 2023 that haven’t been sold. You can get a new Gladiator sport for $35-40k. Even the 2024 have a 3-5k discount going on at some dealers. It’s probably worth more on a trade to a no keep dealer? I don’t know maybe.

You have good options, do you need to trade it in? Can you sell it on your own? You don’t seem too concerned about the resale, potential loss etc so maybe you don’t want to mess with that.

I would look to get that 2023 for 48-49K. I think that’s possible. I’ve seen deals that low. Maybe offer some money down and ask for more off MSRP.

I wouldn’t call that offer great no. Not insulting, not great, certainly likely not the best deal you could find by being willing ti shop around, not in a hurry, and willing to travel.

I sold mine to a dealer it was Gas 23 Willys 5K miles for $35K. As far as options it was pretty low except for the 8inch screen and aux switches. If I traded it in I would have gotten $40K but I was already looking at a private sale. I would say if your happy with it and works for you take it. If your not in a hurry then shop around a little. I actually got the best offer from Auto Nation and then used that to get the dealership closest to me to match it so I didn't have to drive as far.

put your VIN into carvana and carmax, see what their offer to buy is... when i bought my Mojave i sold my wife's vehicle to carmax instead of trading it in because they were $3400 higher than trade and $2200 higher than carvana

That seems reasonable. I may do that if they release a hybrid gladiator.

No one would do that here - the tax difference would be crazy.
Even if you can get 2 or 3K more in private sale than trading it in, if you are trading, take the trade number. The tax more than makes up that difference.

Those two were a total joke when I traded last time - in 2022. My dealer gave me thousands more plus then there was the tax advantage. He beat KBB, and all of the others by thousands. KBB I almost laughed out loud when I saw their offer.
Carvana was something like 5K less than dealer trade for their cash offer. The only one that was reasonable was Driveway and the dealer came withing 500 bucks - and the tax advantage of a trade wiped out that difference and then a few thousand more.
I have yet to see any of those online places make a cash offer that's close to trade - and here, you are better off taking a trade number that might be a bit lower because you only pay Iowa tax on the trade difference, while if you sell outright and then buy, you pay on the whole purchase prices of the new vehicle.

I can't even begin to suggest those online places. A total joke. A Chevy dealership bought my 2011 Silverado for more than anyone else offered - and it was high enough difference it offset the sales tax difference so I still came out ahead by about a grand, bu that's a rare exception here.

Depends on what your time is worth and travel costs - document fee differences, taxes and so on.

Used prices are depressed in some areas because there are still some 23s around with deep discounts in some locations. Not so much here, but some places.
