First I was more wanting to black out the igloo cooler look. Sound deadening was more of a bonus than the goal. Even though I had the factory headliner inserts front and back. The white border bugged me.
I found this boom mat spray from dei. Lots of good reviews. Says on the can it’s solid to 300 degrees. So should be just fine in the sun inside my black truck.
wiped it all clean with alcohol.
masked off everything .
lesson learned- masking the bottom of the front latches caused a white spot so I had to touch that up after taking the tape off. Also taping off the guide pins next to those latches is not necessary. DEFINITELY mask off the bolt holes for the latches!
number and take a pic of the latches. They are oriented
I put down a layer of flat black spray first.
That one can pictured above was just barely enough to do both panels. I’d buy two cans.
I’d say it came out pretty awesome. This is ONE COAT OF BOOM MAT on top of the black flat I sprayed.
I did touch up a few spots with the flat paint when I was done.
6 hour dry time!
So they’re sitting in My kitchen til dry lol
