So ive posted before about my transmission issues. Its at the dealer now they should be looking at it thursday. I got lucky and i have a CPO warranty still on my jeep. Anyone recently get a transmission replaced? Just curious how long of a wait it is for the parts. Its finally getting warm where i am, im hoping it isnt down too long.

I’ve had 3 tranny’s replaced. I’m driving on the 4th one…we will see how long this one lasts.

Waiting for parts or the full unit is subjective to what’s going on in the manufacturing and parts availability and how dedicated you would be in picking up the phone and calling around for a tranny matching your VIN#.

In my 3 replaced transmissions, I called around when I was told because of the strike that geared up at Stellantis, I’d have to wait a long time to get it so the next day I picked up the phone and was lucky to find one sitting at another dealership and they sold it to my dealership.

It’s possible dealerships don’t share what stock they have with others. So perhaps if you’re told you’d have to wait well into the future for an update, all you have to do is just pick up the phone and find it yourself.

What issues have you been having with your transmissions? And when was your latest one installed? I dont mind calling around im hoping thursday they will just diagnose it as bad. The transmission guy was there when I dropped it off and he said it sounds like it needs to be replaced.

Just to be clear, the tranny is the 8 speed auto for my 21 JTR.
All three were diagnosed as pump failure.
#1 had a whine during highway speeds. Was determined pump failure was either glycol contamination or Amsoil killed it at 32k kms. FCA and AMSOIL blamed each other for the malfunction.
#2 had a whine in gear 1 and 2 and was replaced after 500kms.
#3 had a whine in gear 1 and 2
and was replaced at around 40k kms.

Mine is also the 8speed. Thats interesting mine always whined really loud on the highway, but i was told there was no noise and everything was normal. Then like 40k later reverse was really delayed and shifting from 3 to 4 was an issue. Now it randomly starts bucking and gets stuck in 3rd till i restart.

JTR 3.6 Auto here. I had a check engine light come on and I checked with my tazer and got TCM p2763-00 (Torque Converter Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Control Circuit High). It would not clear, even with a hard reset via battery cable removal, but it was running perfect with no whine.
I took it to a local Reno dealer on April 24, and they said they were going to replace the valve body which includes the TCM. Friday May 3, I was told that it should be ready after 5pm, so I made the 30 min drive to town. When I got there, they said it was whining really bad @ 35mph and they were going to have to put a new tranny in it. I went for a drive and could hear the whine and even felt it slip a little. They ordered the new transmission May 7 and still have no idea when all the parts will be in.

Welp got it back today. It has a very loud exhaust leak and its wet around the transmission cooler lines. I mentioned the noise they said why don't you drive it for the weekend and see how it is. Hopefully the fluid is just from connecting it, but im not too confident that's all it is.

A few of us are probably hoping you had a chance to look it over to see what’s gone wrong😬

The leak looks like they put the y pipe back in slightly angled and it's leaking out the back part of the Y pipe where it meets the back half of the exhaust. I adjusted it a little bit, because I'd be too annoyed to drive it the way it is. I wiped down the fluid, hopefully that was left over from the installation.

Has anyone had the trans replaced with a diff gear change or 37 inch tires? Hearing of trans failures makes me nervous about my mods and my extended warranty.

Well i have a similar story to others here...

CAVEAT...i do quite a few km each year. After 12 months the car had 38,000km on it (that's important for calendar year timing of the events below as they all happened within the first year of owning the car)

At 12k service, the very next morning actually, i noticed the transmission (8spd auto) seemed different in second...almost like it was slipping. Jeep looked at the car and said there's nothing wrong with it.

Head down the road 34,000kms and one morning it wont go into gear. I jiggle it around turning car on and off a few times and i was able to drive, however it quickly got worse. A new transmission was installed citing some manufacturing fault that to this day i have no idea what it was.

Fast forward a week or two... i get the car back and after getting home I'm looking around under the bonnet and under the car and i notice something seems to be missing. Wouldnt you believe it, the fuckers forgot to install the transmission breather into its clips up on top of the engine (it was hanging down the back of the engine bay). So i put this on myself...only the top as i cannot see the bottom connection of the breather nor did i know where it even connected to the tranny at that time. I make the assumption that the mechanic has simply forgotten to click the top of the hose in its appropriate places along the top of the engine...i never even though they would not have installed it to the tranny (i now know its in an impossible spot to see and access once tranny is on the car without removing exhaust and front drive shaft)

Then a few days later i notice oil on my driveway...they forgot to tighten up the engine oil sump plug after the 36k service...i rang up the dealership and abused them about these two things telling them they will never touch my car again.

That was around Christmas this year...1 month ago Im out 4wding in deep water (similar to my photo on left) and after winching out and finishing for the day I'm on my way home when the check engine comes on. We don't make it 20km and the car dies in the middle of a major intersection where its stuck for 1.5 hours in peak hour traffic whilst i wait for a tow truck.

Next day, i go searching underneath trying to find the source of the error code I'm reading (gear selector low voltage) when reaching up around the top of the tranny i find the bottom connector for the transmission breather is not even installed on the transmission (its a spark plug cap type connector which has no hose clamp type fasteners...a totally stupid way of doing this).

I pull the tranny inspection plug on RHS and sure enough...out comes the dreaded white stuff (water in the oil)

Another tow truck to the local dealership where i was at the time this incident occurred (900km away from home)

that was 1 month ago and not only do i not get my phone calls returned, i don't even know where my car is right now or whats going on with it!

Im rather pissed off ...i suspect the car may not even still be at the dealership where it was supposed to have been towed by Jeep, and I'm on verge of finding my jeep wherever the fuck it is, loading it onto a tilt tray and towing the fucker to a local mechanic to get this fixed myself then suing them for the warranty repairs due to failure to install the transmission breather on my car when tranny No2 was installed 12,000km ago!!!

service issues aside, a warning to all Gladiator owners...check the way your transmission breather is connected to the top of the transmission. If its the black spark plug cap type, fuck it off and install a proper hose clamp type connector so its cant come off or leak in water!
