Now that my gladiator is leveled (for a while) I’m not really digging the higher front fenders. Is it possible to put non-rubicon fenders on it? What exactly am I losing by doing that?

I think this is a first, but to each their own…. Don’t don’t see why won’t fit, but might have to get the non rubicon liners too?
Good luck!

Clearance, you'd likely also need to adjust or change your bump stops and the screw that stops the turning radius to avoid rubbing. You’d also need new drl/turn signals.

I’d just save that money, because four flares won’t be cheap unless you do a straight trade, for bigger tires. I say that because if the level is temporary, when you’re ready for a bigger lift and tires you’ll be shopping for fenders again.

You lose an inch of fender to tire clearance. That’s it. No rubbing no scrubbing, just an inch of clearance. Rubicon fenders aren’t some magical thing, they’re just pieces of plastic that sit higher than sport model pieces of plastic.

Well that’s what I kinda figured, didn’t think there was that much too them. My thought was they were designed/installed for the person who doesn’t lift their jeep. My mind tells me it’ll look better with all the flares at the same time.

For your reference, this is an Overland on 37s; not quite level but close.

See I think that looks much better.

I’m gonna need the liners too, right?

Probably be easier to get some aftermarket inner fenders for cheap. I think you can get fronts only for like 100 bucks.

I agree with @Camaroboi13. If you're gonna make the swap, find some aftermarket inners you like. They should be compatible with both styles of fender, if you ever decide to switch back.

For the record, I have a pearl white Willy's JT, and Id be happy to trade fenders with the OP. I volunteer as tribute 🤣

I've been keeping an eye on craigslist and such looking for a set of rubi takeoffs but it's pretty rare and they usually want like $4000 or something ridiculous like that

Make you order new clips prior to installing, all but one broke when I pulled the fender on my JL

If ya have a bit of rake I prefer the Rubicon flares . If its close to level Rubicons make the front tires look too small . In my eyes any way , I don't care for the over lifted look
