Am I crazy for debating trading my gladiator for a TRX?

She wanted a wrangler but these had way better incentives and we got 3 dogs to haul so I’m throwing a softopper on this one like my last one and My TRX. It’ll be a stretched wrangler lol.
my wife has a yukon and I also have a Ram 3500. my gladiator is pure my toy.

I thought about a TRX. I can’t imagine the gas cost at 6-8 mpg. I mean I can which is why I don’t drive a TRX. Add that to oil changes and SRT maintenance I mean it’s adds up. Amazing truck though. It also would not fit in my garage which was another factor.

It’s not as bad as you think, I get 13 mpgs in mine average but I’m mainly just driving it to camp and back. I’ve gotten it as high as 15 if I set the cruise control at 55. 60 miles of flat, very to little stops and keeping it under 60 help lol. I work from home so don’t city drive it much. Maintenance hasn’t been much different than my gladiator. The parking outside piece though I am in the same boat though, I hate not being able to park inside.

There’s zero chance of my foot staying off the pedal enough to get 15mpg. That defeats the entire purpose of having a TRX.

ZERO CHANCE

Most of the reviewers in long terms tests are getting half that. Not saying it isn’t possible just saying what’s the point of trying to maximize MPG in this truck.

I’m not trying to max mpgs more just it’s life span. I baby it because I want it to last. Taking off from stops is the biggest mpg killer so city driving I could see 9mpgs for sure. I get into it at stop lights and when I can, but I’ve also found the bright red is a speeding ticket magnet so I’m selective now where I open it up.

Do you like to drive trails?

Living in Ohio there are excellent jeep trails in West Virginia, which is a cool state for a lot of reasons. Some of those, like the Canaan loop, can get pretty narrow. I know here out on the West Coast of Washington we have a lot of tight trails that a full size truck just wouldn't be able to do without damage. The gladiator is relatively narrow and I've gone up paths that it barely fit through the trees.

If you don't drive that much do you really need to worry about interior space? If I were you I'd stick with the smaller Gladiator which is sure to be a future classic.

Wonder if they will sell it for sticker, rare to see one so lightly optioned. Definitely a cool ride, given the choice I would take it over the JT any day.
JUST DO IT!
