Anyone else get the message "updating" when trying to use the tazer, then you wait and wait and wait and it doesn't change so you try to continue and after pressing left arrow and cancel a few times you can finally get past that message, then it pops up again while trying to go through the menu. That, a damn natt and this damn Florida humidity was really pissing me off, I think I finally got my tire size updated but I'm not 100% confident on that.

Try watching some videos, the instructions I printed out are shit, they just don't flow in a coherent manner, that's frustrating as well.

I was guessing that lol.
Due to the amount of YT videos that are out on how to set it up.

Thanks for the advice!
Hopefully its all worth the hype.

I have high hopes.

LOL I have those same high hopes, I'm just hoping that it gets easier as I use it. I've used hand held programers (diablo sport), and they are way easier and more intuitive.

The 2 I have in our trucks have been flawless. But I need to update the firmware and I'm almost hesitant too. And yes, they're cumbersome as hell to figure out how to navigate through. Just remember after the full reboot, to complete the 2 sleep cycles.

Thanks, I'm not clear on the 2 sleep cycles, do you have to go into it and tell it to do a reboot for each sleep cycle, that has never been very clear in any videos or in the worthless instructions.

So after I make changes, I scroll to full reboot and push the cruise on/off button in the middle. It starts a countdown. At this point dont touch anything. Once it's completely done, even after it counts to 0, just give it a few seconds. The dash will ding and light up and go through it's normal boot up process, the same as when you put it over in the run position. It has now completed the reboot. Once all the gauges go back home and the dinging stops, turn the ignition to off. Open the door and close it. Wait until all the dash lights go out (1st sleep cycle). Now foot OFF the brake, put it back to the run position (not started). Once all the gauges go back home and the dinging stops, turn the ignition to off. Open the door and close it. Wait until all the dash lights go out (2nd sleep cycle). I repeat this process one more time (3rd sleep cycle). This process has worked every time for me.

Tazer needs an app
I agree. I just downloaded Jscan and bought a dongle yesterday. I'll use a hybrid approach, utilizing both tools. The Tazer is also a SGW bypass. For now, I will only be using jscan for in depth systems monitoring but there are some of the Tazer live features I like and use.

The Tazer is way too frustrating to use . I really like the functions that it accomplishes but the implementation is not so great and trying to reach the company for support is impossible.

I don't disagree. It's the button sequence that gets me every time. But it's because I may go several weeks or months between needing to access the tuner. I downloaded the user manual to my phone so I can reference it when needed. Once I'm in I'm good. Oh, and the hot keys. I can never remember how to access them or where I've assigned them for what task. I accidentally hit one once on the trail and it went into cool down mode. The damn fan was screaming so loud and I couldn't turn it off, lol. Finally just stopped and put it in park and turned the truck off. It dropped my trans and oil temps down to the 160-170 range though so I did find out cool down mode does indeed work.

Thank you JTenn for the explanation, I've been doing it that way, well except for the third cycle but guess it couldn't hurt. I can see how this Tazer can be of benefit for a few different things but good lord it's frustrating and like was said if you don't use it for a few months then need to change things the frustration starts all over again! Glad I'm not the only one whom found this frustrating.

This is mostly accurate except you need to wait 60 seconds after the dash goes dark before turning everything back on before starting the second sleep cycle.

I have had one in each of my Jeeps and haven't had a problem with either one. Both have the latest firmware version on them. Also, just my two cents depending on what you are using it for you might think about using JSCAN if you using it to set set tire size and gear ratio. Every time you remove the Tazer it resets every thing back to factory settings that were there when you plugged it in. If you still have the factory warranty and there is and you have an issue with the transmission and take it in and remove the tazer before taking it in then it will show you have different size tires and gear ratio if you changed that and it could potentially void your warranty as the cause of the transmission issues. Just a thought.

Good points. My truck is so far beyond stock I wouldn't even consider taking it to a dealer but most would need to consider this. It would be a good idea to wait the 60 seconds. Won't hurt a thing. I've just done it this way since I've had the Tazer and never had an issue with it not taking the change. I personally never remove the Tazer either. The couple times I took it to the dealer for service in the beginning, they never said a word about it. The one and only reason I would remove it is if I needed a legit software update from them. Otherwise it won't be going to a dealer.
