Noisy rear Clayton springs.

I will have to try that. I do have those isolators. My other thought was the spring moving around and found this:

Will try the weight in the bed. I will also try bouncing on the rear bumper.

I bought a couple pairs of these and lined my colis at the top. No more noise.

Did you have to drop the rear axle again?

This is where I added the isolators. I don’t believe my coils are making noise or moving at the top or bottom so I don’t think the retainers would have worked for me.

Jumping on the bed did not repeat the noise for me. Good luck!

oh yeah. I had to pull the spring completely out and use a screw driver to pry some of the coils open to get the sleeve on.

I bought several pairs and put them on in such a way that no metal would make contact while under normal stationary or slight (going over a speed bump) compression.

Correct, I did not remove the coils just supported the frame and let the suspension droop.

Installed those isolators higher up to test. I went 1 coil from the top, and skipped 3 coils and placed another one. Hitting the speed hump at 30 had absolutely no noise, 35 a little, and 40 about the same as at 35. Originally sounded like the rear was going to fall out the back. This was done with no weight. My plan is to add a decked system which weighs about 200lbs, plus gear and it should be perfect. The good news is when you let the rear drop down there is enough space between the coils to install without removing the spring. Thank you everyone for their input with figuring this issue out!

Sweet! Yeah, this thread is a keeper and a wealth of knowledge. I hope to add a little more weight to the back of my AEV standard coil lift also.

Whether empty with topper only or fully loaded with cabinets, refrigerator, and gear I get this same annoying rattle at low speeds on the road and any speed offroad.

Is this the same rattling sound you guys are also hearing?

Possibly, check out the video I posted on page 4 of this thread. Yours would just be faster, more frequent events. I could recreate mine going off a curb. I ultimately determined it was the bottom coil making noise with the perch on the axle. I just reused the factory sleeve. Put a little RTV on the inside so it can stick and it’s been fine.

@mpboxer thanks! More and more I’m thinking my noise is coming from the coils, but it will be another week before everything on the suspension gets re-torqued to confirm first it’s not a bolt. The clattering is driving me crazy!
