How about a "what is it" bit, here.

At our street rod Tuesday AM coffee, a friend did what he often does, brings us things from 100+ years ago and passes them around to see who can guess.

I was almost spot-on, the guy next to me got it right, the next fellow over guessed: "tap shoes for dancing cows".
So if anyone guesses that's what these are - no, they aren't tap shoes for dancing cows.

I would guess Ox shoes. Seen something similar in rural Thailand being put on a Ox.

I didn't think of ox shoes in particular, but I knew that those are "shoes" for some large animal.

Shoes for the devil.
It is not horse shoes that are lucky, it is oxen shoes. They should be aimed up like a U to hold in your luck, unless you are a blacksmith then they face down like the picture to pour luck into your work.

ox shoes for ice. In the days of cutting blocks of ice from frozen lakes, etc. - and ox pulled the loads of ice blocks. The guy said he got them out of a barrel from an old-timer who had several of them in different sizes.
