Hello all just installed a 3.5 lift with 37s on my 21 Rubicon. Looking for suggestions for some sort of rock slider that also doubles a step without hanging low. I had my eyes set on the Rock Slide Eng. power steps for a long time but they are not in the budget right now. At one time Rustys had a good looking dual prupose set but I can not longer find it on their site, and also Quadratec had a pair called the Brute Strength steps that looked nice but they didnt seem to stick around very long after they came out and then disappeared.

Ultimately I love the power step approach but due to cost and almost being winter Im not sure I would be able to get to installing them.

Rockslide Engineering has what you want. You would also want to add their additional armor with them. We ran them for a long time on One of our company JT's which seen a good bit of wheeling 6, 7, and 8 rated trails . For a slider/step its the only option to look at if you intend on wheeling and still want them to work unfortunately its a Buy once Cry once type of thing.

I've been building mine on a limited budget also, and found these:

https://bodyarmor4x4.com/products/jt-4121-side-steps?variant=40168500396093

I've had them on for about 3 years. They've taken the weight of the truck about a dozen times, sometimes slamming down on ledges or boulders, but haven't shown any signs of damage beyond scratches. I've also used them as a Hi-Lift jacking point with no issues.

Edit: the hide-a-steps have found a new home

Short story: i have 3 hide-a-steps that you are welcome to for whatever UPS charges to pack and ship them. If you throw in beer money, even better but not required.

Long version: I have 3 sets of the hide-a-step in my garage. Two were given to me by another member and are powdercoated rough black. The third is an unused unfinished metal that I bought. Much like you I didn't want to pay the RSE price. I also had the additional obstacle of needing to modify the hide-a-steps because of my original Slider (never modded them). By the time that I had a chance to modify the hide-a-steps, I had the money for the RSE steps ... so I just went with them. If you want the hide-a-steps, they are yours for whatever UPS charges to pack and ship them. If you throw in beer money, even better but not required.

Yeah I'm installing a Metalclock Gamechanger 4.5" kit and my wife threw a shit fit.........so I had to bite the bullet and buy the RSE's.........$2600 later. They arrive on Monday.

I thought the BA ones didn’t line up with rockers? Like when you look down the side of the truck.

Same for me, I liked the Metalcloaks, wife liked the RSE. Happy wife, happy life. And I don't think you will be disappointed with them.

I was in the same boat. I didn't plan on adding any steps until my wife complained.
I run the MetalCloak Sliders with a 3.5 lift on 38's. They only provide a couple inches of drop, but my wife is happy with them. I flip them around for wheeling trips to add a tad more clearance. Or, you can remove the step if you prefer.

Yeah, they are straight, so the back sticks out further than the front. I don't think it's too noticeable though.

White Knuckle is probably the strongest slider in my opinion, mounting to the frame and allow you to keep extra rocker protection from the Rubicon rails is a big, big W.
