UPDATE…
FCA has fully denied the claim stating it was my fault. Apparently I must have run my truck while it was overheating even thought it never gave me a warning and it never stalled or went into limp mode. The dealership is making seem like “my maintenance” was the issue saying I must’ve not changed the oil often enough. They changed the oil on Jan 2023, between Jan 23 to Jan 25 I’ve put in 8k miles and I changed the oil twice in that timeframe, even though the change oil light never came on, I remember I did this especially the last time because when I changed the oil I found a leak and took it to the dealer in aug 24 where they also changed it again and never found any signs of overheating. So now I’m on my way to pick it up from the dealer where I have a $300 diagnostics fee to pay. They have had my truck for over a week, I’ve been paying Ubers to get around for a while because they also wouldn’t offer a rental and I still have to pay them for this. I’m beyond pissed. Trying to keep my cool and not go off…

@JeepCares where you at???
this the seedy underbelly of DIY oil changes. Common loophole to deny warranty. "you didn't change the oil per scheduled maintenance"

I've heard if you save receipts for your oil & filter they should accept as evidence that oil was changed on schedule.

UPDATE
This is going to cost $9700!?
FML…

So today I went to the dealer and as I pulled up I heard from FCA they asked me to not take the truck and to leave it there until Monday as they will have a supervisor review the case, no offer to get a rental btw… so now it’s at the dealer for more time…

The issue I have at the moment is that they are not telling me WHY it overheated and If it did overheat;
1. Why didn’t anything light up on the truck
2. Something had to have failed that caused the overheating shouldn’t THAT be the reason it overheated, it’s like the dealership is like, “oh the truck just randomly overheated one time and you just said fuck it and drove it like that.”
3. Why is it denied, nothing in my warranty info says anything about overheating not being covered and the dealership is very vague and not giving any details. All they are saying is we asked for the approval from FCA and they denied it. No solid reason nothing just here is the estimate.
Like @Rusty PW said sounds like attorney time

This is why I enter all of my maintenance in the Jeep app

I would not put it past the dealer to be sandbagging you because they would rather do it as customer pay work than warranty work because FCA short changes them on the reimbursement hours.

As much as I hate them, I agree, it's time to get an attorney. If Jeep somehow steps up and agrees to replace the engine, I'd sell that thing as soon as it's done.

Fair warning this is a rant/venting session…

Sorry to say I’m done with Jeep/Mopar/FCA…

Day one off the lot I I drove off and 20 miles into my trip back home the visor broke, from then on it’s been a love hate relationship with this truck. I love it more than any other vehicle I’ve owned and I’ve had over 20 but after this latest trip to the dealer I’m officially done.

At 500 miles on the odometer I hear a tick, not bad, take it to the dealer a bunch of times until a tick became a loud knock. FCA approved an engine replacement this took about 6 months from start to finish, truck was in the shop months not being worked on until they finally replaced the engine. All is well until it starts to leak coolant 1 week after I got it back so back to the dealer for another 2 weeks. They fixed that issue and the truck was great for a while…

Over the course of 4 years I’ve had an engine replaced, the transfer case replaced, the transmission replaced, the rear axle shaft replaced, the batteries replaced 2 times, I’ve had the alternator replaced, grounding issues, visors replaced and they took months to get, I had oil leaks multiple times. The latest issue was a torque converter replaced, after it was replaced I had to bring it back because there were some bolts that needed to be replaced…the techs were unaware that apparently the bolts were a one time use thing and the started rattle. This are just the big issues I’ve gone in for various other things over the years.

Fast forward to mid December, I get a check engine light, the red lighting bolt flash, the auto start stop lights and the TPMS as well. Dealer can’t see my truck until Jan 2…I bring it in and apparently the truck was overheating and caused the overheat tags to turn red and warp the cylinders…and now FCA, not the dealership is saying the are probably not going to cover the engine due to it overheating.

I have never taken this truck off road, it sits in my garage 90% of the time, I’ve never towed anything, it’s in perfect condition. It looks like it just came off the lot, to be honest it looks newer than a lot of the new JTs on the dealers lot. It’s never even been in the rain, it’s been babied so much. Oh and I forgot to mention I only have 29,000 miles on it!!! This engine actually only has 25,000 miles on it. It’s been a week in the shop with nothing being done to it while they wait for an approved or denial…

So after this is finally settled one way or the other I’m done.

Ill post updates as I get them…

I owned a couple Audis over the years. First A8 was an awesome car. A pleasure to drive and very few issues. It got passed around the family until it was over 20 yo. Finally sold it to a parts guy because it wasn’t being driven. Found out later he was driving it years later.

Second A8 was a lemon, in the shop constantly and expensive. Traded in on a Grand Cherokee. Some rigs are just jinxed. My JTR Launch edition has been awesome with only very minor stuff. 60k miles and the drivetrain while being used very hard off-road is all original.

Sorry yours was a lemon, poo poo occurs!

I hate hearing this but am also happy that I'm not the only one.
I'm currently waiting on Stellantis to approve our 3rd engine. Rather than stand by their warranty, they are jerking my Dealership around and my wife(it's her Gladiator). 2nd engine went in at 60ish, second engine not even 10k. o2 sensor and catalytic converter both changed out.
These things should not be happening on such new vehicles.
My dealership has been doing everything and taking care of us.
WIth that said why does Stellantis not care about their dealer network and ultimately their customers?
The dealer has had our Mojave longer than we have for 2024. @JeepCares what options do we have?
Hi Chris,

We are saddened to learn about your engine concerns. Please send us a private message with your VIN for further support alongside the dealership.

So they won't back their own warranty.

I'd request documentation and photographic evidence of said negligence and proof of the actual overheating.

It smells like a bunch of halfassary
Requested that info and still haven't heard anything from the dealership...

No surprise because they don't have proof/evidence and hoping you just bend over. I'd call the service Manager and tell him your going to elevate this up through to the GM and owner of the dealership if the information is not provided or the warranty being honored.

Every shop I worked in if there was a failed part or system we provided the information to the custom as soon as the diagnostics and issue(s) were identified. We'd either send pictures or have the customer come by the shop and show them everything. I could go on for days with this.

Not telling you want to do, but don't back down.
