2024 Mojave X Add Bed 115v outlet

So, not sure if this had been addressed yet. Is it at all a possibility for these models without the wire harness for the dash switch. For the bed outlet to just be powered on the whole time with just a setting change with a Jscan or similiar device? I wonder that because the outlet behind the center console is constantly powered. No on/off switch for activating it.

That is my last ditch hope for getting the OEM bed outlet powered due to it seemingly not having that wires harness behind the dash. I could do a more thorough disassembly of the dash, but really not motivated to.

I asked this a few pages back and no one knew for sure. My suspicion is no considering the factory one still has the button. I ended up returning the kit.

I had already installed the outlet and rear harness. So no returning for me.
Guess I just need to do the full disassembly and see what I find.

I had the borescope out today and could not see anything back there that looked like a connector. I was even able to push it through some of the gaps on top and to the side. The gap where the switch wire comes out was too small to get the camera in. I was able to get into the gap above the one the wire comes out of.

Do we know what a known wiring harness that does have the 115v connector part number Is? I would like to compare the years to find out if there are truly different harnesses.

Guess I just need to do the full disassembly and see what I find.

One place I could not see with the scope was behind and to the right of where the headlight switch wire emerges. Also I cannot pull the headlight wire out any farther without resistance and I did not want to risk breaking it. So the resistance might possibly be where the missing connector is taped to something but there is no way to know without doing the disassembly removing the driver side speaker and seeing if that gives you enough room to reach up behind what is shown in my previously posted pics. That area seems to be open in the back, I took a flashlight and pointed it up from the footwell and I could see light in the upper back right portion of the cavity.

I can tell that everything in the headlamp switch cavity stays in place if the speaker comes out, so it will still be a pain to see if there is a connector below and behind the piece where that pink connector is. NOTE, there is at least one speaker screw in that cavity. BTW, does anyone know what is on the left that the pink connector is plugged into? Looks like it could be a real PITA to disconnect and connect that connector

In the areas to the top and right where the scope camera could fit, I did not see any tape or connectors. But I could not see that entire area behind the pink connector where the headlamp switch wire emerges from, so it is possible something might be back there. Hope this helps, @Chapol . One thought, since you have the rear harness and outlet in place, you could try turning it on with a tazer or jscan and see if you have power at the outlet with or without the engine running. Maybe to either prove or disprove the thought that the outlet is on without needing the oem switch? @MikeNH

Hey all. I just completed the install today on my feb 2024 rubicon. The connector was located in the area immediately above the speaker. It was out of sight, high on the left towards the front. I pulled it free and was able to fish it up and through the same opening as the headlight connector in the above diagrams. Hope this helps.

wow, thanks for this, I am grateful. Kudos to you for finding it. I am guilty of misusing and interchanging the parts speaker and speaker pod. So for clarity, which is it? Was it above or below the opening for the headlight switch? Thanks and I'm sure Benny @AllMoparParts.com will be very interested as well. I've also read on posts here that some folks in older model JTs found it next to the inside firewall where the headlamp switch wire goes through.

Hey, not sure what terminology is used but I think it’s the speaker pod ie the big black plastic enclosure into which the speaker is mounted. The connector was found in the space below the opening for the headlight switch - that area where you couldn’t bore scope into, which is immediately above the speaker pod. The screw on the right directly behind the pink connector is the speaker pod top mount. And for clarity, I did remove the dash panels for better access and visibility. Hope this helps.

I have a 2020 with the inverter and rear console 120 outlet. I was interested in the option of the 120 bed outlet. There were no kits yet at this time, so I tried to order the individual pieces that I would need. The 2020 had the connectors needed to install the needed switch. I bought a Tazer initially for this install. This was during the Covid Era and the parts chain was slow and backorders were the norm. I was patient for 6 months after only recieving the 120v bed outlet that I still have sitting on my tool box.

I started thinking more and more on the use of this 120v bed outlet. 400watts? Well, that's not a lot of power? Then I thought about when I would be using the power outlet in the bed. It was then that I realized didn't want to kill my Jeep's battery in the middle of nowhere. At that point I found that a portable inverter will provide more power for a longer time with an external battery.

I did install a 12vdc receptacle to power the freezer while driving to and from my destinations. I have a separate battery to use when the Jeep is off.

For me, I found the the 120vac 400 watt bed oulet was not practical.

Portable inverters do not have to be traded in when the time comes for a new vehicle.
