Willys Engine Cover

For quite some time while looking at different photo's of a Gladiator that include the engine I have noticed that all of them have an engine cover or shroud. I have a 2023 Willys that does not have one. It has the threaded mounts where one would go but it is not there. Just curious if some models come with out a cover or perhaps mine got left off during production. I kind of like the way it looks without the cover. Anyway I would appreciate any Willys owners letting me know if their engine came with out the shroud or cover on the engine.

I think in late 2022 or in 2023 they stopped using the cover. My 2023 Overland came without the cover.

They got removed in the late 2021 model year. There may be a few stragglers into 2022 models though. I do not think it was a clean cut in.

No. I’ll bet they left them off for heat reduction and of course cost.

I have a 2020 that I bought in July of 2019. I removed mine probably the day I bought it. I always do. I'd rather see all the mechanical bits than a piece of plastic.

I agree. The engine looks much better without it. I have always liked a nice engine compartment.

If you really want one, I'll sell ya mine for $100. It's useless and is in my shed somewhere. Hell, I'll sell you the one for the JT and the JK for $175. Bought the JT in June 2019 and took it off a couple weeks later.

I think I read on here somewhere that it was a late result of all the manufacturing issues that came out of covid, basically they ran out for a bit. My '23 Willys doesn't have one either (which I'm fine with too).
