Did the install for front and rear differential covers from AEV. They have no magnets! Can't just throw one in there or catastrophic failure. After spending time to figure out that this will work in the fill hole below.

GoldPlug 1/4"-18 NPT Industrial Magnetic Drain Plug (Internal Head) IP-02, 0.25″ Internal Hex, 0.41″ OAL

I do love these covers due to the big fill hole and its AEV but should have put that magnet like OEM. The other thing was the rear cover had some cosmetic flaws. A part of the skin cast was missing lol. Sent them an email and 4 days nothing, then called them and they sent me another one.

I also did Redline 75W-85 Oil GL-5. This is one of the best. I like Amsoil but they are not a PAO/Ester gear oil. Only the Signature oils are and no gear oils on the site that are Signature.

Does this include Amsoil’s new Severe Gear 75W-85 100% Synthetic Gear Lube? I currently use Redline as well, but thought about using the Amsoil in the future now that they carry the proper weight.

I used Amsoil Severe Gear in mine. From what I can find it is PAO based. I also attached the data sheet for the Severe Gear oil.

They don't say if it is but my understanding is that they use PAO with Signature.

Here is something from the FAQ

"AMSOIL maintains formulation details as proprietary and does not divulge specifics regarding the type of synthetic base stocks used in its synthetic lubricants. AMSOIL developed the world’s first API-qualified synthetic motor oil in 1972 and has remained the leader in the synthetic lubricant industry by continually researching new technologies and demanding only the highest-quality raw materials. As the company moves forward with new technologies it is increasingly more important that this information remains proprietary. AMSOIL views synthetic base oils the same as it views additives, with each having its own set of unique properties. AMSOIL does not insist on a particular type of base stock, but insists on particular performance parameters. AMSOIL chooses whichever synthetic base stock or combination of base stocks delivers the desired result and tailors its lubricants to be application-specific (gasoline, diesel, racing, transmission, gear, extended drain, extreme temperatures, etc.). At the end of the day, the type of base stock used to formulate the oil is inconsequential; the product’s performance is what matters."

I found different info on bobs the oil guy.

One said this
"
Many gear oils today are formulated with a Multi-Functional phosphorus package.

Amsoil is also using a base oil (a new group V) that has been used in wind turbine lubes to extend wind turbine transmission life.

I don't know what he said but lower phosphorus levels do not infer lower EP capabilities. "

I wish I knew for sure. Maybe send it out to lake speed jr for testing? I was going to try it for maybe 10k miles and do a change and see what the lab work will show used but will be a while. Then maybe try the Amsoil Severe gear and see what it does after 10k miles.

Here is another good thread. https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/mega-75w90-testing-thread.378175/

Amoils look a bit better here on the numbers. HPL is also top notch oil I have heard. Ill try this Redline for now and see how it does, then try the Amsoil and have both tested.
