Is there an answer? I asked the dealer… they had no clue.

Mine was off and on. It’s off now, the day before starting a 5000 mile trip!

Heres a work around, as mine has disappeared again and like many posters, I really like the instant average feature on my gladiator.
Enter the cluster "Setup" screen:

Scroll down and select "Upper Center":

Scroll down and select "Current Econ":

Follow the on screen prompts to exit cluster setup. Then return to Fuel Economy or any other screen. When done, after the screen selection goes away, the Current Economy is displayed at the top center.

Sorry, guess I swiped it from you! 🙃
Guess you swiped it back! Mine is gone again. I wonder if there is an over the air update that happens to our radio/cars that cause this.

Go to the main screen that normally has it on there, if it is showing distance to empty under the MPG gauge, scroll over so that is gone and nothing is showing up under the gauge. Now shut it off and wait till everything is off, lights and dash, restart and it should be there. Let me know if it works for you. It has happened to me twice and both times this fixed it

It happened more than once with my 22 and there wasn't any update involved. It simply disappeared. Then came back on its own, and then disappeared later, then came back again later. Sometimes it was days, sometimes it was weeks or longer. The updates are really for the radio bit - doubt you'll see updates for the cluster display OTA.

Nothing worked to get it back for mine - I switches screens back and forth, disconnected things, tried several different things by various members. Didn't matter.
I found it returned on its own if I was on the "other screen", not the one with current mpg and then checked each time I drove it. Sometimes it took weeks, but it would come back. It never returned while I was on the screen where it belonged, it only ever returned while I was on the other screen, then periodically checked to see if it was back.

Hopefully the 24s and 25s don't have that issue with the major changes elsewhere...........but it wasn't the end of the world in any case.

I bought a new 24 Mojave X the beginning of this year and my instant MPG stopped showing up a few weeks ago. Really miss it, was hoping an OTA update would fix it, didnt realize this was a bit of an ongoing issue. Gonna try a couple of the suggestions and see if I can get it back. Fingers crossed.

Right. My ‘24 Rubicon X had it disappear a week ago and then it came back a couple days ago. When it disappears again I’ll try the tip mentioned by Cyberhero in post #126.

My '24 has lost the instant mpg display a couple times since November. It is currently missing. A couple days ago, I reset the tripometer on the next screen and went back to the fuel economy display. Now page A is also missing the remaining range readout, but page B still has it.

With issues like this and a flaky stereo that likes to replace preset stations, some days I really question if it would have been better to lease it or buy another Colorado instead.

Do Gladiators tell you that bulbs are burned out, even if they aren't? I saw a lot of complaints about that on the Compass and Renegade sites.

That "tip" has bee around a while - it never worked on my 22, maybe you'll be luckier.

Tried this today after work. And it worked. Mine has been MIA for a few months now for the 3rd time. If it disappear again. I'll try it again.
