I find myself asking this as well quite often on here. I think the top contenders are:

1) Piles of debt

2) Drugs

3) Crazy Uncle Jay hit the lottery in '78 and the family has been using Benjamins as toilet paper ever since.
The 2019 was stolen in 2022. Thanks to the crazy post covid used car values we got damn near what we paid for it new. The 2022 we got at invoice so they were a wash. Bought my 2023 mojave when they were offering deep discounts. $65k msrp, paid $52k out the door. Not cheap but fairly priced in my opinion. I believe the average car price is now right around $50k. You don't have to sell drugs to buy a vehicle these days, but it could help.

You specified Stellantis built Jeeps vs FCA, so I assumed you were comparing apples to apples as in JLs and JTs with the same high compression 3.6L, etc? I'm not seeing any evidence there's a marked or noticeable difference. For everyone like the OP that had a flawless FCA JL or JT followed by a Stellantis version with problems I see just as many that had issues with their earlier JT/JL and have had flawless Stellantis built rigs? And then there's the ones like me who've had no issues from either. I think you see what you want to be true. And I'm giving FCA the grace of ignoring the numerous tsbs for steering stabilizers, aluminum steering box, etc. If you include those early model issues I'd bet the statistics show the late models have far less issues.
They don’t show far less issues, but I do think that they should show issues with infotainment and software updates for said issues as a separate category. It muddies the waters.

I did have the aluminum stering gear replaced. I replaced my steering stabilizer with a Fox unit when mine was brand new trying anything to stop it from wandering so much on the hwy. That and lowering tire pressure did help a little bit.

Look, I’m not one of these autistic parrots on here that quote obscure TSBs whenever someone has an issue and claims that everyone needs a new engine, transmission, etc for minor issues. I just hate what Stellantis has done to the Chrysler family of brands and I will retire that I do think that a lot of issues are post Covid parts supplier issues. Some might be 0W-20 issues also, but that’s a whole other conversation that gets beat to death.

Mine was almost stolen twice. Once I caught them and they drove off. They had it running but hadn’t left the van. I didn’t even realize that I was pulling up on it till it happened. The second time was an attempted car jacking on the interstate. My Jeep had three bullet holes and I trashed the front bumper. I hit the 110 governor and had to pit them. Stolen Audi. I couldn’t out run it.

Quality up or down you’ll be a judge.
I bought my Jeep after Christmas last year. After the first 150 miles the battery died it would not jump which was weird they Pay for towing, offered me a rental car and put in a new battery.
after 700 miles I took it in for the dome light not working.
they replace the switch then the PCM then they said it was short.
The dealer stated it needs a new wiring harness, and the part would be on backorder. I spoke to Stellantis and they had part there two days later. The truck was there at the dealer for 54 days because the dealer is so backed up. Stellantis paid for my Hertz rental car which was a 2024, 5.7 hemi Ram three-quarter ton which gone 1.5 mpg (16.5) better gas mileage. 😳. Stellantis give me money and there best extended warranty for four years more. I guess they treated me right.
But my fingers are crossed.
New to the forum but I love my gladiator.

I didn't read the whole thread, so take this with grain of salt:

This Thread is 5 pages deep and the OP posted yesterday!? Crazy good. Or crazy bad.

In this thread I did see attempted car jackings and vehicle failures at near zero miles in this thread.

Bottom line:

1> The more plastic that they use Under The Hood means heat degradation.

2> Some of you might need to relocate to safer places. I carry and will use deadly force under law and the 2ND amendment.

3> My 2021 JT Mojave has been flawless for over 4 years and over 65,000 miles.

4> Move. Sell the house or otherwise and move. Find a safe place to live. And if you believe the Left is what you want. Than it. Is. All. You.

Stay there. Please.

If you vote Left... Don't come begging at my safe home if your Left desires and politicians take over. You won't make it up my driveway.

"Do you all think quality has gone DOWN?"

Yes. I do.

To make matters worse, Jeep customer service has gone down with it.

There is widening inconsistency between one person's experience in product quality and dealer service, and the next. My 2023 Gladiator has been completely trouble-free (knock on wood), but my 2018 JL wasn't. My local CDJR dealer sucks beyond belief while the one 30 miles down the road doesn't. My brother's 2015 Renegade spent half its life in the shop; his 2019 Compass didn't.

And while all of this happens, Stellantis couldn't be bothered one iota. All they care about is quarterly profits reports, paying dividends to shareholders and that's that.

Had a 1998 XJ 4.0 Limited, then a 2015 JKUR, a 2019 JLUR and now a 2023 JTR. No real difference between the JL and the JT. Feels like the Interiors have gotten better over the entire timespan, the plastics sure got worse when it comes to fading. All of them were kept outside, but the JKU had no faded plastics after 5 years. The JLs unpainted fenders, and especially the window wiper cover, were severely faded after only 2 years already. Pretty sure the JT is gonna be the same, other than I opted for painted fenders for exactly that reason.

Don't both your examples show quality improving?

There is stuff to correct the fading

I had a 96 XJ and that had one of the best interiors IMHO. Not much hard plastic yet still easily cleanable. No trouble going well past 200k miles (although there was always something that needed replacing it felt like 🤣)

Only if there are assurances that my next Jeep will be trouble-free. But there are none. All you have to do is look at this and many other threads on here.

My 2008 and 2009 JKs were trouble-free, my 2013 was not. My 2014 and 2015 JKs were trouble-free; my 2018 JK and JL were not. See the pattern?

I was able to justify owning Jeeps, reliable or not, as long as they were priced right, held good resale, HQ honored its warranty commitments, and my dealer provided decent service. Sadly, FCA/Stellantis has eroded all of these elements of the ownership experience.

I read all the horror stories, but including xjs, zjs, wjs, and wagoneers we are 20 Jeeps in. Aside from failures from hard use, breaking parts off road or typical age related items like starters or alternators all were trouble free aside from the 86 xj powered by the gm 2.8L v6. Biggest turd of an engine I've ever owned. No power and unreliable. For the remote locations we take our Jeeps there's no other vehicle from any manufacturer I'd trust period. Certainly not a Ford. The previous generation Tacoma and 4runner are dead reliable, but nearly impossible to fit larger than a 35" tire. Even the 35s required trimming body mounts. The latest hybrid versions seem to have reliability issues. To me there really is no other option and knock on wood I've never had an issue.

I had a 1996 XJ and it needed a new engine at 60k. Catastrophic failure. Hole in the block. Their quality has always been spotty. That’s the only engine failure I’ve ever had and I take care of my vehicles and I’ve had more vehicles than I can count and some work over 300k miles. Jeep quality control as always even spotty. Even then, I had to wait on a new long block because they were on back order. so many failures. 4.0l was a good engine design but it also had early failures. The good ones have survived.

I hated that vehicle. So cramped and uncomfortable and also unreliable. The rest of the drivetrain was fine, but something was always broken. See how perspective and individual experiences vary?

This is my 4th Jeep. My 04 WJ 4.7l was awesome and trouble free. My 2008 JKU Rubicon was lemon lawed and that was my last jeep for 12 years before my JT. The lemon law was also an exclusive. My only lemon law and I’ve had close to 20 brand new vehicles.
