I did the hood plunger mod on mine a year ago and it keeps the start/stop system from working without issue. The light on the dash doesn't bother me at all and I don't even notice it anymore.

Yeah, If all that was directed at me, you way over read into what I said. Just stated a preference.
And I'm 100% behind your idea of a permanent on/off but I just don't sweat having to push a button. Really not throwing shade on you but the on the idea that ESS is the most important problem facing our nation today.

Nothing will change. It's not even required now, the auto makers are doing it on their own to meet fuel and emissions standards. And they all know the next EPA will raise the standards back up.

Yup, because it's rules, not law, it can change on a whim.

There are no "regulations that require stop-start systems" to get rid of, they're just saying they will remove them for headlines.
It's for credits. Either pay many millions in fines for not meeting CAFE/emissions rules, or get some credits for the crap your gas guzzlers put out by using this technology.
It's an EPA rule. Rules are up to the agency. They can come and go - and if this one goes, you can almost bet it will come back again. This is for show - see what we are doing for you?!

The auto makers are already fully-vested in the technology. Over a decade ago, they had it pretty well figured out. In Europe, it was decadeS ago.
A rule change is going to make it suddenly disappear?
Click bait.

This is the way.

I'm not upset about the option, nor am I upset about trying out new ways to save fuel and emissions. But that's what it should be, an option. The only things that shouldn't be optional, in my opinion, are safety-related features.
While I understand the perspective, without things like stop/start, you might have trouble buying a vehicle like this in the 2020’s. I’m fine with having 99% of drivers just ignoring it and allowing me to have one vehicle that gets less than good gas mileage.

EXACTLY.
The precious Jeeps people have and complain about the ESS would likely not exist were it not for these "cheat" or "credits".
Jeep can't survive without it. If you want Jeep to keep on living, you will just have to adapt and accept that in order to survive, they must sell to a global market and either do what's necessary, or pay massive fines year after year and fold, go away.

There's no AMC to come along and save them this time, and no Iacocca to come along and save them again. It's the end of the line - survive or don't survive.

Everyone is so wrapped up around "removing" ESS, they don't NEED to remove it, just program it to remember the last setting. This is already the case across multiple other manufactures. The vehicle will still have it, but the owner can opt to "permanently" enable/disable.

Regarding batteries, all they need to do is redesign the system to not allow the supplement battery to drain from the main battery. Again, other manufactures already have it, Jeep just needs to catch up.

For those of you that have "trained yourself to just push the button". Good for you, you don't need to get on your high horse and tell us. We don't care.
