I don’t see many posts about this type of battery tech being used in Gladiators, so I decided to make mine the guinea pig.

For context:

  • I’m in the San Francisco Bay Area—no extreme heat or cold.
  • My Gladiator lives in a condo parking garage.
  • Before the swap, I ran an Aux Battery Delete for about a year. Antigravity recommends not connecting their batteries in series or parallel, so I took that to mean Aux Delete is basically required.
  • The old battery was an Optima AGM H7.
  • Yes, I have parasitic draw (who doesn’t?). I haven’t bothered chasing it down.
  • I installed a hood-mounted solar panel to offset that draw.
  • It’s a daily driver, but my commute is short—another reason for the solar panel.

It’s been a week now, and none of the issues people on the internet warn about have shown up. The main complaints I’ve read are the BMS cutting off when the alternator outputs more than 14.4V, or when ambient temps are outside 33–113°F. Honestly, those warnings often sound like they came from “a guy who heard from a guy who read a post from another guy.”

I’ll post updates as I get more miles on it. In the meantime, if you have first-hand experience with this battery or a similar one, please share—it’d be great to compare notes.

Interesting idea. I can't imagine it working for me in Fl where temps underhood can easily breach 120.

I like the idea of a longer life battery.

My solar controller tracks engine bay temps and so far the battery has not experienced anything outside 33-113F.

Two weeks and my LiFePo4 Antigravity battery is doing what a Starter Battery should do.

A month on duty and no issues with my LiFePo4 Antigravity battery.

I did upgrade to a 20A solar controller to give me room to upgrade to a larger solar panel.

Next Update in 2 months

The warning is for directly connecting doing a series or parallel in a power bank setup. The Gladiator is deigned around 2 battery's and has the proper systems in place to regulate them independently. That is why I have not had any problems with my Aux and Main. Antigravity. Temps are normal and volt motoring as well. Any car that did not come with factory Aux, I would not run it dual.

I am running an antigravity in my Indian motorcycle. It has saved me twice with the restart feature. Probably shaved close to 6 or 7 lbs off the bike as well. Pricey but worth it. I think I am on my 3rd year with it installed.

Also installed a WolfBox digital rear view mirror & dash cam. Yet another thing that will suck the life out of a battery.

This is very interesting. Due to deep discharge capabilities of the LFP cells (and re-start backup feature), it could conceivably be used as a backup (or minimal use main) house battery for overlanding/camping.
