The under-seat lockable storage obviously works as a long gun case. But Jeep designer Mark Allen, being interviewed on Youtube's "The Fast Lane" would not comment on it "holding a rifle" he just said "hunting equipment". Jeep has mentioned numerous times it can hold baseball bats, fishing poles, etc., but won't utter the word gun. What is the aversion there?

btw JEEP NAILED IT with this truck!!

Why do you think they need to? What benefit would it provide to Jeep. While I don't have a problem with saying it can hold guns some people do. Why upset potential buyers, media, public for no reason? They didn't say guns but everyone who owns or is interested in firearms already thought, "I bet I could lock my guns in there" and Jeep didn't need to say. I mean you thought of it all on your own right? So I am guessing Jeep sees little to no upside and a fair amount of potential downside. Lots of risk, little reward.

Jeep is smart. Smart businesses don't do things to alienate customers. Like Dick's, North Face, Patagonia, or tons of other companies that got political.

Jeep wants to sell Jeeps. To everybody.

Meanwhile I'm trying to figure out a way to rollbar mount my RPK for a Gladiator technical.

Granted I have not seen the lockable storage in person yet, however, I don't think I would be locking a gun in there. It looks to be made of a plastic material and I don't think the locks were particularly beefy. A metal aftermarket box using the same mounting points is the first mod I will be looking to make.

Excellent point, I was wounding if Tuffy would be making replacements.

I dunno, as a California-legal place to keep the rifle when headed to the range it'd be handy... Keeping guns legal in CA in a pickup normally requires some extra headaches that I'd be just as happy to avoid.

I probably wouldn't leave one in there unattended, but that's not the only use case...

This was exactly my thought as another CA member. It wouldn't be used as secure storage for valuable items or firearms, but would simplify the range process and give a better option for basic storage than on the floor under the seat.

Not sure if you all know it. The rear seats lock as well. Up by the head rest there is a key hole to lock em. Wished jeep would have made it so both the bottom and the top locked, extra security. That being said a small mountable safe/gunbox locked mounted behind a locked seat is pretty secure and would satisfy CA gun laws.

I think it’s because we live in a highly litigious society and that’s why they won’t say the G word. They just don’t want to be in anyway held responsible for putting a gun in anyone’s hands.

Because the guy on his way to shoot something up will say "...But JEEP told me to put a gun in there!"

I see no reason for Jeep to bring it up in our politically correct, litigious time. That's the beauty of the typical Jeep - its owners are who decide how to use the features. The storage can hold my gun AND my wife's purse!
