I've been contemplating one of these for my jeep for ages but the rear camera instillation is whats held me back. Your solution is pretty unique. I hope this isn't too off topic, i might be kind of thick but i cant find a clear answer. Is the rear camera required or is it a reversing aid? I mean if you install it over your stock mirror say, does the back camera provide the "mirror"?

Correct. The rear camera feeds to the screen which either straps over your existing rear view mirror, or replaces it entirely with a bracket.

It feels like it would be weird having your rear view mounted low. My backup camera is nice for parking but It would look strange for it to be my rear view mirror at that height.

having it higher than the tailgate was strange placement for a rear view for me.

On my Tacoma I tried to place the camera around the same height as my rear view mirror, because thats what it's replacing. But I also had a cap without windows that I mounted it on the rear door, so it was easy to do.

Thats where these systems really shine, when your rear view mirror is obstructed. If just looking for a camera for recording purposes I feel there are far better and less obtrusive options out there.

That is a good point. On my truck the rear view is not obstructed, but it is nice to have the bumper camera when needed.

My truck has dimming side mirrors and the Woflbox mirror covers the sensor in the factory mirror. I don’t dive a whole lot at night, so it hasn’t been an issue yet.

When I trade for a JT, that will not be an issue, but for some vehicles like the Ridgeline it is.

The night time use is my biggest complaint with the Wolfbox. The display brightness even at it's lowest setting is still too bright at night. I had to shut mine off at night because it's just too bright and it washed out my vision with my astigmatism. It's something I think Wolfbox really needs to address, and I've mentioned it to them on here. Theres an argument for safety when the display is too bright because it can affect your night vision and ability to focus, especially for those of us with astigmatism.

I have the G930 for the JT but I haven't installed it yet. It's a 10" wide vs 12" like the Pro, so it fits better with the visors, but it doesn't have the triple camera. Not a deal breaker for me, I don't have any need for third camera.

I went out and tried it real quick. It does work but when you pan up and down it resets the zoom. Not sure if it resets when you reboot though.
2.5k seems good but when using the zoom on a car far behind you the pixels get pixely

I am seriously thinking of getting this. Can the camera be flipped and then corrected in the view?

It's worth mentioning that the 179 bracket is only designed for the 2022 model. I reached out to then and asked if it would work on non-2022 and they said no. Why, I was not given an answer. Has anyone out there used that bracket on a non-2022 model JT?
The listing says it fits all JL Wranglers…. How different can they be? For 20 bucks it’s a short putt to try it out.

Can you mount the camera that is intended for the front bumper under the vehicle in the back facing forward? How long is the front bumper camera wire, can you get an extension or splice into it?

I have the OEM Front Trail Camera on my JT and would like to mount the Wolfbox front bumper camera under the JT in the back facing forward, so I can keep an eye on my rear differential, driveshaft, long arm mounts and any other potential hang up points.

I believe the front cable is a loot as long as the rear cable. I had to loop up quite a bit on mine since it was so long.
