Generally speaking….. It’s probably a moving target…. where they can get the parts easily and quickly - And/OR - there’s a ‘contract’ involved that’s constantly changing cuz they’re always looking for the low bidder.

I’m sure folks across the pond are complaining about those ‘US’ made parts 🤣 on their beloved vehicles. 🤔

2024 + saw the Gladiator and Wrangler 3.6 engines sourced in the USA, no longer Mexico.
(I had to say 3.6 because a Wrangler can come with a 2.0 as well)

I remember the Toyota Tundra use to top that truck list for years. Ironic that many of the Asian brands rank so high.
It was an incredibly smart move for two reasons -
Appealing to Americans' sense of "Buy American" and "support local workers"
and
Of course "taxes".
But the Japanese are really shrewd business people. Their business plans go out a lot farther than ours, and they think of appealing to senses most US companies aren't even aware exist.

I had a 2nd gen Ridgeline, and it has consistently been in the top 10 for years, which was always a bit ironic considering the brand. Nothing against the RL or Honda, but it's nice to see Jeep sneak up on them this year :)

that’s interesting, so are they using the same components and just assembling them here now or is the 24+ a new generation? I would really like to see the cam issue go away.

Take a gander at the bottom right corner of your window sticker/Monroney.

That's the manual transmission. The auto is made in Kokomo, Indiana. That should bump the US parts content a bit. I bumped mine more with an AEV lift that was American made. LOL.

Very good question. I'd assume the whole thing came to the states - especially since the engine is considered USA and not just assembled here.

MAYBE that joose paint comes from Mexico -

Seriously- I wonder about equipment, like the roof type for the JL, for example...........

You'll find these days a lot of casting, tool and die and so on is actually done better in China.
I've bought cast and machined parts from China that blow away the US counterparts - because they don't have high labor costs there, they can actually put out decent quality.
We've fallen behind in people who even want to do that sort of work, China was tracking that and pushed to get their people trained in those areas (too many want to work from home or in an office with a chair, too few interested in dirty hands in the trades)

Doesn't matter who assembles it if the source parts aren't good. A job my son had between HS and college was a perfect example of an American company dragged down by parts from other places. They had to pay him to correct the hole sizes and placement in parts for the ice machines they made. Made in USA - but the parts - not so much, except for his hand prints on those parts fixing the boo-boos.

The German-made ZF transmissions used in the 4xe had terrible castings - the US made ZF transmissions didn't have such issues. Hmmmmm

People here don't want to do that work for the crappy wages it pays. Why the hell would I want to abuse my body doing that when I can make 2x - 3x from my office chair at home?
