Mud Terrain type tires will have a lot more rolling resistance than an All Terrain type of tire, and they'll be a lot noisier. A narrower tire will return better fuel economy and can provide more traction in certain terrains than a wider tire. Look into a 35x10.50 or 35x11.50, especially if you're using the stock wheels.

That’s great information. Thank you. My wife’s Jeep has All Terrain tires but hasn’t been off road so far. Will they perform well in deep sand and mud? I have Falken M/Ts currently, and they have been great in both.

Mud terrain tires will obviously perform better in mud. They're also generally preferred for rockcrawling, too. But in most other terrains, an All terrain tire will outperform a Mud terrain tire. There's no perfect tire; they all have compromises in their design. You just need to give yourself an honest assessment and figure out what your priorities are, then find the tire that best suits those performance goals. It doesn't sound like you're a serious off-roader, so I would recommend against a Mud terrain tire.

The Yokohama Geolandar M/T G003 are marketed as being some of the quietest mud terrain tires on the market, yet despite religious tire rotations and perfectly smooth tread wear, they are very noisy, much noisier than the Falken Wildpeak AT3W's that were on it. They're fantastic tires on- and off-road, but don't let anyone fool you, even in the best of circumstances mud terrains are very loud. I miss the Milestar Patagonia MTs that I loved so much on my previous Jeep, which were remarkably quiet.

Wildpeaks are an AT tire though, so it makes sense they were louder.

The larger the lugs and the more open void between lugs, the louder the tire.

Yeah I heard so much about Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT ..So I bought a set .. they are not true in shape and are loud they are hard to get balanced, but they go good in snow and mud and dirt so there is a trade off .
I seriously won't be getting another set.
Mickey Thompson makes some northern models I am curious about like the legends. But I am thinking about totally different brand all together.

I recently went from the OEM Falken ATs at 33" to the 35" Falken AT4 in the same width. I have not done any careful measurement of fuel economy, but my perception from looking at the MPG readout on the dash is that I have dropped a couple of MPG.

I got around 21.9 mpg with 35" mud terrains km3s on the hwy with a tazer calibrated speedo.. I recently switched to a/t 37" Ko2' c rated actual size in closer to 36.5, I believe they are 10lbs lighter) and I'm getting 24+ on the hwy, I am amazed.

Im on 35x12.50x17's 4.10 diffs. I drive like a BOH and still get 18.5
Crap thats the best mileage I ever got in any truck with a gas motor I ever owned . Now my diesel used to average between 19 and 21 . But it wouldn't hardly go anywhere that was soft material it woul literally just sink.

Hey guys. I am getting close to needing new tires. I plan on putting 35 MT on. I am interested in impact to fuel economy and felt power. I am currently running 33 MTs. Any input is appreciated. Not interested in moving to 37s btw. Thanks.

I used to get 23.8 mpg to 25.5mpg on 2021 Willys diesel with stock tires and wheels.
After wearing the tires out I installed a mopar 2 inch lift and 35 inch Mickey Thompson. The miles per gallon dropped to 19.5 to 21.8 on highway.

My wife has a 2022 Rubicon diesel with 37 inch bfg tires and a 3 inch lift. Also a Banks derringer with pedal monster. She gets 19.8 to 20.5 all the time. I'm gonna put a banks derringer on my 2021 diesel. More power and they run nice.
