Mad jaspers point was, jeep is doing a poor job with a motor thats been around over a decade, the pentastar, with quality control and stocking replacement parts for often low mileage motors. They are not building our confidence with regard to investing in a newer more complex powerplant like the hurricane.
I know someone that recently filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy because they bought a used Silverado, 2 or 3 years old. One of the lifters went bad and it was just out of warranty at 74000 miles. He was still paying on the truck and could not afford to fix it so now we pay for it. He replaced it with a used Chrysler 300, just over 100k miles. It developed the tick and is in the shop. He only put about 5k miles on it.
These motors are trying to do too much, made by incompetent people, hired by greedy people and regulated by people that most likely have never done any real honest work in their entire lives. Putting a 4 cylinder in a 5000 pound truck is asinine. Jeep, Toyota, gm, can keep their thumb hole stock truck engines.
