Gladiator Brad: I am not sure how you're going to integrate the electronics? I don't think you can do a standalone LS ECM with the Jeep electronics. The BCM (kind of the heart of the Jeep modules) isn't open programmable yet. Well at least as far as I know. Some one may have done it?? Good luck let me know what you find out. FYI - If you've still got your 2020 Rubicon it will have the GPEC2A ECM which is what is need for the hemi swap. - TimI have been thinking of a LS swap lately. Just trying to open a new can of worms. I have a feeling it would offer more performance, better reliability, and a lot more available performance upgrades. Likely all at a better price.
Where did the link go?Todd over at Jeep Speed shop just recently post a new video on his DIY Hemi swap kit for the JT's!! Check out his youtube video on "Setting the Story Straight".
Can save you twenty two minutes.Where did the link go?
Edit: I just searched for it on YouTube. Watching now.
Flyin6: Keep us in the loop on your swap! I’d certainly be interested. I did my own DIY swap on my Mojave. It’s super fun to rip past another Jeep owner on the freeway! Just see the WTF look on their face. LOLI like the part of the vid where I heard about actual hemi conversion facts, which was probably 20% of the presentation. The man is passionate, and this is what he does, so I get it.
But
After watching all his hemi JL/JT vids, I still don't know how to do the wiring harness conversion to the GPEC2 from my unlocked -5.
Having recently installed a Ripp supercharger, I think I am going for a V8. I can't abide with the awful noise that blower makes! Dump a handful of marbles into your washing machine and that's what I have.
But having spent over $6K on a supercharger with ZERO miles on it, dumping another $40K on a shop-hemi conversion is a pretty big stretch.
JSS offers (I think) a do-it-yourself hemi conversion, which is well within my capability. If it actually exists, I believe I am his next customer.
I think I would be more of a premium installation guy, opting for a factory non-MDS 6.4 or 5.7 and a new 8HP75. Other than that, I can live with everything else and donate my summer to the underside of my JT!
Roger that!Flyin6: Keep us in the loop on your swap! I’d certainly be interested. I did my own DIY swap on my Mojave. It’s super fun to rip past another Jeep owner on the freeway! Just see the WTF look on their face. LOL
Flyin6: I did a 6.4 from a wrecked 392 Wrangler. It’s a lot of work, but certainly worth the effort and cost! Good luck.Roger that!
I sent Todd an email.
I'll need a new place to live as well. I hope that's included in the kit. After spending a ton on a supercharger, only to never drive it, only to rip everything out, will certainly get me divorced!
Did you use a 6.4 or the 5.7?
