I'm interested in a Hemi swap for my Wrangler. His videos are very informative if a little hard to follow due to the repetitive rambling. It will be interesting to see pricing for a 5.7 Hemi kit.

Based off the JK kit I am betting $4500-5000.

I have been thinking of a LS swap lately. Just trying to open a new can of worms. I have a feeling it would offer more performance, better reliability, and a lot more available performance upgrades. Likely all at a better price.

Gladiator Brad: I am not sure how you're going to integrate the electronics? I don't think you can do a standalone LS ECM with the Jeep electronics. The BCM (kind of the heart of the Jeep modules) isn't open programmable yet. Well at least as far as I know. Some one may have done it?? Good luck let me know what you find out. FYI - If you've still got your 2020 Rubicon it will have the GPEC2A ECM which is what is need for the hemi swap. - Tim

Cool video- Guy seems to be straight forward, but also seems to have a chip on his shoulder with the "Other V8 swap Guys". I get it, when your passionate about something you don't like seeing other folks cut corners and not address things, but it could also come off as just bashing competitors. I like his attitude but I can see where others would be turned off by it.

I would like more info on the module problem he was talking about. I know any dealership could turn away any work they wanted as soon as they see any mod, but I wonder how much of an issue it actually is. I could see a dealership not waning to mess with a v8 tune in a gladiator, but I can't imagine many of them would have issues with basic reflashes no matter what it is. To his point replacing the brake light switch would any dealership actually care?

Dude also needs to buy a few lottery tickets, 9K for a gladiator rubicon and then turned around and sold the motor for 4K, having 5K in an empty frame, and then picking up a 5.7 for 2500....

10 minutes in, and 2 weeks later, idk how much it costs lol. Or if it's available.

10 minutes of ranting about how maybe it can be tuned and maybe it can't.

Can I buy the mounts and harness yet or not? Good grief Charlie Brown

Todd over at Jeep Speed shop just recently post a new video on his DIY Hemi swap kit for the JT's!! Check out his youtube video on "Setting the Story Straight".
Where did the link go?

Edit: I just searched for it on YouTube. Watching now.

Can save you twenty two minutes.

He never says the price and it's still not up on the website yet lol.

Although it is still technically March.

I’ve been keeping tabs on this as well. If they get it through a referee here in Cali I’d consider it. My heart and tiny head are telling me a 5.7 is the way to go. My brain is telling me when it’s time for a new power plant go for the 3.6 again. So many things I want to do in the engine bay and if I move to a 5.7 all of that is going to have to be redone/reconfigured. Damned if ya do, damned if ya don’t kinda situation.

I like the part of the vid where I heard about actual hemi conversion facts, which was probably 20% of the presentation. The man is passionate, and this is what he does, so I get it.
But
After watching all his hemi JL/JT vids, I still don't know how to do the wiring harness conversion to the GPEC2 from my unlocked -5.

Having recently installed a Ripp supercharger, I think I am going for a V8. I can't abide with the awful noise that blower makes! Dump a handful of marbles into your washing machine and that's what I have.

But having spent over $6K on a supercharger with ZERO miles on it, dumping another $40K on a shop-hemi conversion is a pretty big stretch.

JSS offers (I think) a do-it-yourself hemi conversion, which is well within my capability. If it actually exists, I believe I am his next customer.

I think I would be more of a premium installation guy, opting for a factory non-MDS 6.4 or 5.7 and a new 8HP75. Other than that, I can live with everything else and donate my summer to the underside of my JT!

Flyin6: Keep us in the loop on your swap! I’d certainly be interested. I did my own DIY swap on my Mojave. It’s super fun to rip past another Jeep owner on the freeway! Just see the WTF look on their face. LOL

Roger that!

I sent Todd an email.

I'll need a new place to live as well. I hope that's included in the kit. After spending a ton on a supercharger, only to never drive it, only to rip everything out, will certainly get me divorced!

Did you use a 6.4 or the 5.7?

Flyin6: I did a 6.4 from a wrecked 392 Wrangler. It’s a lot of work, but certainly worth the effort and cost! Good luck.

Hat's off to you!
From what I have read, the swap from a JL392 is more difficult because the locations of so many components are different from the architecture we currently have.
It seems to me Todd has it mostly figured out, awaiting his response. I do not think I'll install anything with that MDS nonsense, so I may have to just purchase a new hemi from Direct Connection Speed Parts. I'd want the higher torque powerplant anyway, and likely toss in a mild cam as well.

I also have to decide on the transfer case options. Adapter plates to use my Ruby case, or just toss that and go for a different case with the 2.72 low that bolts right up. If one option allows me to skate through without doing driveshafts, that would be the most likely route.
Anyway, at the moment I am cutting my frame apart and installing an Iron Rock long-arm suspension, so there's that...
