Switched out of my '21 Overland into a brand new but '23 build Rubicon. I haven't even done 1,000mi yet but have noticed engine noise in the cab I never heard from the Overland. The closest I can describe it is a sound I heard before which was piston slap. It is louder when cold and more noticeable on acceleration. The front seat passenger can hear it too. It might be injectors - its a very light sound - and maybe there's some hole through the firewall that hasn't been sealed allowing the sound to leak in. Its not a single lifter tapping or heavy enough to be lifters. Anyone else heard this?

I have something similar. Faint similar noise, like piston slap. Goes away once my oil temp hits ~170 degrees. I have no idea if it has been there all along. I did several mods to quiet the cab down, so possible I'm only now hearing it.

Can you provide a recording?
I was thinking about that, but it'd be a difficult sound to capture, I'll have a go though

Hopefully you can hear it on this video, it sounds like a diesel, but its Gasoline 3.6 of course

I found out from the service agent this morning that there is a known issue with some engines that causes a noise issue and they give a procedure for diagnosis. If the procedure fails Its the phaser, usually on the right bank. I assume its a VVT phaser?
