Never !! Perish the thought šŸ˜‚
I've seen several teslas go 300k+ miles on the originate pack, how many 2.0ts have got 300k? The pug high compression 3.6L cam can't possibly make it that far. Time will tell, but as an electrician for 25 years I'll bet on electric motors and batteries over any type of internal combustion engine for longevity every time.

I just hope all of these hybrids will have an affordable replacement battery when the factory one fails in 8 - 12 years. That would be my only hesitation to buy EV. I love my Dewalt/Milwaukee cordless tools, but those batteries are cheap to replace. Right now, the Wrangler 4Xe battery replacement cost is $9,600 which doesn't include labor. There's already been a good number of battery failures on 2021 - 2022 Jeep Wranglers. Yes, those were replaced under warranty, but what will happen when the warranty period is over?
I know the aftermarket has covered older Toyota Prius battery pack replacements but the tech Toyota uses is much simpler and easier to access with common hand tools. You can refresh a older Prius for like $2500.

I do know one thing though, with todays tech, there is going to be very little of todays vehicles in a classic car show 30+ years from now

80,000 miles - likely a lot will not keep them that long. How many keep the ICE versions that long?
I recently read that the average vehicle owner is now keeping their vehicles for 12 years. That would far exceed 80,000 miles.

How much is an Ecodiesel replacement engine lol?
I can get a rebuilt engine for $7,500. I've seen crate engines for $11,200. Hopefully it's not something I would need to worry about for 20 years. Our 2015 Ram EcoDiesel is already 10 years old. It has 131,000 miles. Our 2020 Ram EcoDiesel is 5 years old with 53,000 miles. Our 2023 Gladiator EcoDiesel has 3,500 miles. We plan to keep all three trucks for the long haul.

Our goal is to be debt free before we retire, so keeping our vehicles long term is one way to accomplish that goal. We can save a significant amount of money by not having a truck payment. šŸ‘

That's averaging cars and pickups in there, though......... do Jeep owners keep Jeeps that long?
Asking - not saying.

Never mind! I found the answer! 15-20 years for Wranglers!

Makes me wonder …. all those used Hybrids & electrics out there. How the resale values compare….supply / damand for used. . When people are shopping for used… are they soooo caught up in the NOW (or Wow factor) that they don’t realize in 5 years, they could have a $10,000 repair bill?
There was a thread on the Wrangler forum in which 4xe owners were talking about their battery failures. Almost every single person said they were planning to trade their Jeeps fairly quickly because they were worried about resale, reliability, and cost after warranty. On top of that, most of the warranty repairs were taking up to 2 months.

They all liked the hybrid, but most of them felt that the 4xe was not something you would want to own for very long. But to answer your question, they said the 4xe is already worth significantly less than a regular gasoline powered Wrangler.

I personally worked with a guy that started a career on the railroad 38yrs in length drove the same 1981 CJ5 the entire time. 2 engine rebuilds 3 frames and 2 body replacements. Same transmission front and rear ends. O er 400,000 miles. Had the 304V8 4 speed standard .

Battery warranty, or other?
Transmission took a week.

Most of what I've observed in the 4xe forums over the last couple of years weren't that long a timeframe.

BUT - I've also found location location location - matters a lot. Some talked about 2 or 3 weeks, even a month, to get a transmission, I had one in a day, and it was done that same week.
Here, they seem to be very very well trained and equipped. It takes special training and equipment to deal with these. I bet some shops just aren't ready for them

The 4xe battery
Timing was everything there - during the recalls, it was taking a long time. Not sure what the time would be now, but those who got in early were reporting short times, others - were on lists.
So I could easily see some people facing hefty delays.

Guess what a full engine replacement costs installed in a modern vehicle? $12-15k depending on the engine.
But they can last forever if you take care of them……. Batteries do not.
Sure… there are costs involved with maintaining an engine….but you can be assured it’ll keep going and the option of fixing it. Batteries can’t be ā€˜fixed.

Not every engine problem can be fixed, had a 4.0L throw a rod through the side of the block. You're not fixing that. And replacing batteries is easy by comparison and no maintenance.
