Just roll down your window all the way on your regular door......No difference LOL
I'm not sure on the current platform but it's a massive difference on the TJ and I assume they probably share fairly similar proportions. The half door comes down lower than the top of my thigh. I will defend half doors to the death! 🤣

Pretty sure it does. See it often actually.
I'll take your word for that and absolutely agree that doing something purely for cosmetic reasons with the intent to undo that cosmetic reason is dumb.

Looks like I hit that nail.
I'm taking this all as friendly banter and think it's a pretty interesting conversation. I'm just standing in my garage procrastinating doing this wiring tbh

Oh same here!. Friendly banter indeed. Whole point was to gauge conversation and get imput. Although some have clearly missed key points and locked in on a specific thing.

I've got a really nice carved wood version of that too, only duck I bought for myself because it spoke to me.

I want to replace my rear springs and totally go with air bags . Strictly air .
That's going to get squidgy real quick, likely to roll the airbags of their perches or split the bag. Think about the old playground rocking horse things and how those springs worked.

Maybe more accessories/gear than a mod, and I'm not saying any of them are dumb on their own, but I don't understand people that daily their vehicle in a city/town and keep them kitted out like they're going on a 3 week excursion (roof top tent, rotopax, hi-lift Jack, traction boards, axes, shovels, propane, etc.). I get it if you go often or for large items if you're limited in storage space, but I'm guessing for a lot of people it's more decoration than anything else.
Like the people that drive around with a Hi-Lift Jack on the hood of their JK, but plastic bumpers, and no side rails whatsoever? And for some reason, their tires are always bald. Always.

Just because I'm curious. What purpose do tube doors serve that half doors don't?
It's taking the doors off to get the knees in the breeze, but keeps things from bouncing out, like nieces, pets, etc. also gives a better flow through to keep the air from buffeting in the cab. Half doors do keep water and crud from blowing up the legs of your shorts if you get caught out in some rain.

I had a 2500 Ram with air bags in the rear . Also @RustysOffroad-Scott makes a rear triangulation system that utilizes airbags which intrigues me . What I hesitate on is real world proven success with that set up off road . From what I could tell there system uses a sorta scissor effect .I think i looked at em a couple weeks ago on their site but really would have loved to see pics of it on a Gladiator for reference purposes.

I was that guy with a TJ when I was 17. Spent all the money I had on that TJ, had a hi-lift gifted to me so slapped that shit on the hood. Only had enough cash for used tires 🤣

Mid-late 30s now for reference. Still have the hi-lift sitting quietly unused in the corner of my garage.

I'm going to try to dig up a photo and I'll update this comment if I find one

Here it is! Man look at how much more airflow I could have gotten with half doors! Also I was wrong about the timing a bit... I saved up! Brand new 33" Federal Couragia tires on Soft 8's I picked up from Summit for $34/ea. Couldn't afford the center caps though lol

And not hi-lift mounted in this photo but childhood shenanigans. Owner of the Manche is still a good friend and owner of the XJ became my brother-in-law 15ish years later

Just for fun I also uncovered this in my digging. Earliest photo I have of my first off-roader. She died a noble death, upside down, on fire, in the appalachians.

Naming your Jeep...
THIS.

"Hi everyone! I'd just like to take a moment *deep inhale* to welcome "insert cringiest name ever for the crappiest used base model with star wars stickers you've ever seen" to the family!!"

(VALIDATE MY PERSONALITY REPLACEMENT RIGHT NOW OR ELSE)

They always have to say "I'd like to take a moment..." in their Facebook posts like their post in a closed group is from a podium during a symposium.

Same. I built a welded up bracket for mine that hung it off the spare tire carrier. We all made sad choices. And here we are outgrowing them.

EDIT: I found a picture of my folly. Factory bumpers. No rock rails. Farm jack.

LMAO. Im dead!.

And since were on the subject (oh so accurate!). The names, 90% of the time are so unoriginal anyways. Like how many damn "Maximus or Spartacus" jeeps are out there? Nobody has ever thought of that.
