So I'm more curious than anything on what others think and wanted to bring up a discussion on this topic in the event maybe there are those out there who are like me.

I'll probably catch flack from some people who fall into this category. But oh well, flame me. I don't care. Maybe I'm biased for the sake of being adamant about my build being simple, sleek and tastefully done (which I get many compliments on specifically). I agree that Jeeps are arguably one of the most customizable vehicle platforms out there.

With that said, I feel like we as jeepers often do mods just for the sake of doing them without really considering; 1- Is it practical? Secondly, is it really needed or worth it. I totally get to each their own. That's the good thing about customizing, is that it brings out your personality among other aspects. But also I feel like that's why there's so many tacky looking and even overly built Jeeps out there too. Again maybe I'm biased in having practical quality mods that actually look nice without taking too much away from the stock sleekness of the vehicle but also serve a purpose.

And I'm not even really speaking on the sense of personal preference more than I am of practicality.

Examples: (solely my opinion)

- Clearlidz or anything of the equivalent... like really what is the purpose? So you don't want the open air feel, but you really need to see out the top when it's raining etc? Ooook. 👍🏼.

- Fender flare extensions. So we get aftermarket wheels with negative offset to poke outside the fenders...yet add flares to even it back out. (Then although slightly true, use the excuse that law enforcement in some states prohibit poke). Again although true, as a cop myself I can tell you 90% don't give a crap even in states that prohibit it. I guess if you're in area with nothing else to do, maybe but not quite in my neck of the woods anyway.

- Half doors; never never understood them personally. Tube doors I get, but half doors although they don't necessarily look bad to me, are kind of pointless unless you have it like that to just spend money. So I want a door on, but not the top half? Yeah. Ook.

What are some of the silliest mods out there in your opinion?

That's so people can't see your pajama shorts and duck slippers when you go out for an early morning coffee run, but like the expanded frameless view.

I'm not gonna yuck somebody else's yum, except for angry grilles. F those.
lol. 😂 I agree for sure.. But again I'm not even speaking on preference more than practicality. Although I too(as many) hate angry grills. At least that's more on the lines of personal preference for those who for whatever reason do like them.

Unlike the practicality and pointless nature of so many other mods out there.

Huge wheels and low profile tires, especially the low pro "AT or MT tires", angry grills, I haven't seen curb feelers yet, but I'm sure someone has done it......my curb feelers are AT, and they're more like curb meh-ers. Lifts that probably cost more than the vehicle to mall crawl. Excessive light bars, pods, racks, hang on things on what is clearly a pristine mall princess.....I'll take my backlash too, but leave y'all with this, you do you.

Yes, for when the weather is bad or for even in the winter months. And to also let more light into the cab. Tons of modern cars have full glass roofs.

Aside from the look, The main purpose for a negative offset wheel is to stop larger tires from rubbing at full lock. So, yes. People will run wheels a negative offset to stop tire rub but will try to limit the amount of debris from being sung down the body with fender flare extensions or wider flares.

Depends on the half doors. Full soft doors are the way to go. Light weight. Store easily, Half door option with the ability to go full door to protect from the elements.

For me? Rainbow rice burner underglow. Angry grilles. 20"s (unless you are on a 40" tire or bigger). 95% of the peel-n-stick on crap from Amazon.

Albeit that I sold my Clear Lidz because I didn't like it, it was somewhat useful in the Ohio winters. It was nice to have the open air feel (and sun when it was out) during those awful months. It was not something I would suggest in the spring/summer/fall as it acts like a greenhouse and makes the cab super uncomfortable. For as expensive as it was, it was easier to sell it to buy other parts. Didn't hate it but didn't love it.

I'm kinda 50/50 on the half doors.....HAAA, see what I did there. I'd probably consider them if I didn't have tube doors, my 2 main gripes going without doors, is 1: there's no place to rest your knee on the driver side(I'm not a dead pedal guy), and 2: there's nowhere to rest your left elbow, even with full doors, the window sill is too high and the rest on the door is too low(for me). My tube doors fit me just right as far as driving position, and they keep the nieces from bouncing out. I do still get a little soggy and nicked up from the front tires.

I have them. I live in redneck country, so troopers are always stopping trucks that have too much poke. But the main reason I got them was because of the insane amount of snow/sleet/slush that was getting sent skyhigh off the 35s. Mudflaps were only stopping so much.
