2020 jeep gladiator rubicon with genesis offroad dual battery kit. I just swapped agm to lithium lifepo4 and they aren't charging with alternator. Built in battery Bluetooth shows both batteries being discharged with engine idling. What's going on?

Major can of worms here. Your alternator is not designed to charge a LifePo without a DCDC BMS inline. Doubt your battery has this built in. Why did you install these?
Get longer run time out of my rgb lights while engine off, get better burst from my audio system at competition, be able to put lifepo4 bank in the bed of the truck and it all be the same chemistry.

Battery manufacturer said it would work, dealership said it should work.

I did buy an adjustable external voltage regulator that bypasses the computers smart regulator. Aside from that AI told me today I need a DC to DC charger between the starter battery and the aux batteries. However, that doesnt fix the alternator charging the starter battery.

I watch the battery stats and when I first turn on the engine the battery charges at 25amps for about 3 seconds, lowers to 8amps for about 3 seconds, then stops charging all together. So that makes the think that its the smart sensor seeing over 13v and dropping the voltage too low for the lithium to charge.

Keep in mind what everyone calls AI isn't AI. It's an LLM predicting the next word based on training data or what it reads on the Internet. AGI is AI. That doesn't currently exist. Don't take advice from an LLM.

Dealers don't know shit.

If your alt is directly connected to the LifePos via the Z case fuse array ( stock ) I foresee a myriad of problems.

The charging circuit is designed with a profile for AGM batteries. The lithium batteries need a BMS so that they appear as AGM batteries to the truck.

They have a BMS. They are marketed as auto batteries that can be used in any vehicle.

Reach out to Genesis. I'm not familiar with how the dual batt system works, but I suspect it all goes through the hub first. Their controller hub might need to be set to lithium instead of AGM.

You must have a Battery Isolation Manager (BIM).

I see suggestions to swap back to agm...what is dont understand is how do all these jeep ppl with 30k+ rms audio systems do battery deletes on LTO, lifepo4, and sodium ion banks....if the charging system only recognizes wet/AGM.

Contact Genesis and ask them about using the batteries with their dual battery kit.

Swap the batteries and put the AGM back and see how the system behaves.

If you did not blow a fuse, and all you did was swap the batteries, it should work.

They said their system is just an on/off switch basically and their kit shouldn't affect whether or not it charges. It doesnt care or know whaybtype.of battery is in it. He suggested I check the voltage at the alternator fuse and at the battery to make sure charge is actually making it to the battery and that its possible the battery bms is not allowing the battery to charge because the input charge is too low.

Update: I checked voltage of battery with engine off and again with battery on. Both shows 13v. I checked voltage from ground on battery to the power wire on the alternator and get 13v with engine on. When I touch the positive to the #7 bolt in the fuse box with engine running i get 2-3v (grounding to ground on battery). I have no idea if i am doing it right, but genesis told me I should get the same voltage at #7 alternator bolt and the battery when engine is running...alternator was fine before swapping the batteries.

I have LiFePo 4 batteries in my motorhome. I had to change my BIM, Battery Isolation Manager) to a Li-Bim 225 BIM. This will cycle the charge from the alternator on 15 minutes and off 30 minutes. I have a 220 AH alternator on my diesel pusher. If it doesn't cycle, the alternator will overheat and be permanently damaged. Hopefully, you haven't burned up your alternator.
