I've talked about this at length on the dark side (Wrangler forums) and here with my wife's new Rubicon order. Over on the Wrangler side, they refuse to believe me and claim it's a misprint and actually steel bumpers - but the steel bumper has it's own line item
You are correct.

Here is an example of one on the lot

and here is the Window sticker

It's a real thing. They have a "performance steel hood package" coming on all of the Rubicon X Wranglers. It's steel - and I can't figure unless it's the same as the MOAB edition hood

This is from the build sheet -

How much performance does steel add? Obviously I’m joking. Everyone knows it’s 43hp.

Depending, I'm really serious about perhaps trading hoods with someone else if we take the one on order and it's the stupid Moab hood. It's just a bulge in the middle, and ugly, IMO.
I'd much rather it have a Rubicon hood.
The Rubicon hood is part of the personality of that level of Jeep - Wrangler or Gladiator.

I have a Sport with a Sport hood. Even if I had a Rubi, I’d try to go to the Sport hood. I just think it looks better. Not so “busy”. Plus I can fit more solar on the regular hood. :like:

While I agree, I’d be worried about paint match.

Maye buy a stock hood and have the local shop paint it.
They did an absolutely PERFECT job on her windshield frame. You can't tell in any light.

Which is it? 7 or 8?
Bloody Jeep can't even get THAT right!

Well, part is correct, Sahara has entered the mix -uh, the rebadged Overland. And that's not showing on the next page yet, so I guess it's really 8 since they have only updated part of the site - as usual the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing at their web development team

Boys why all the hate, Bill you have been the biggest Mojave nay slayer for years tearing down everything about Mojaves , from seats, frame, axles , sway bar , shocks , weak springs, wheel offset , orange stiching , even the steering wheel was stupid , and to sum it up about only thing left was the hood , and now the only hood that could be possibly called a performance hood with a actual system designed to push heat out and keep air filter dry , while being made out of real steel the kind of steel that all the acorns, walnut and hickory nuts falling in the woods around my house can’t dent while my two wranglers are covered in dents , and you say that Performance hood is not at the same level as the aluminum Rubicon faux vent hood that lets water under the hood ,I would have to agree cause the Mojave sits an inch higher not even on the same level !🤣
Bill why did you custom order a Mojave? Have you jumped your Mojave yet , you need to. Do yourself a favor and order the Gladiator export hood, it’s real and it’s steel. Boy that felt good and I’m still your friend Bill….Jack

You do realize I was talking about the "bulge" hood that my wife's new JLU will likely come with, instead of a proper Rubicon hood, right?

The off'd the Overland, and the Mojave was the next best ride and level of comfort.

We're talking the steel performance hood for a JLU, and it's just a bulge. Put on a proper RUBICON hood on a JLU Rubicon.
At least from what we can tell it will be the Moab hood - and that's just a bulge in the middle. (but seems no one really knows)

From the 2026 JLU build sheet - it's not a Mojave or Rubicon hood -

Hey, if they put a Mojave hood on a JLU Rubicon, cool - but I strongly doubt it.
Where have I dissed the Mohave axles or seats or frame? The Mojave built like ALL JT frames should be.
There's really nothing to say about the axles -
the seats, frankly, I don't see a difference between these and my Overland seats....... they sit about the same, feel about the same when in them. (which frankly, is just fine - you can drive for miles in them)

Jeep/FCA isn't my favorite company right now - between their BS with the top and screwing with options, false features on the monroney............I like the vehicles, but the company sucks.
I still don't think their leadership "gets it". Amateurs or kids running the place. Good thing their blue collar employees don't screw up like the executives do.
