Hey don't get me wrong, I love my Gladiator. I'm 9 years deep into Jeep ownership for a reason.

But I'm not married to it.

Granted - I don't need a diesel 3/4 ton anymore than I need a Jeep that I don't take the top and doors off of, but with my family now growing to five and a different looking future on the horizon. I don't know. I grew up flipping through Diesel Power Magazine and the only diesel I've ever owned is my John Deere 1025R.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't curious...
FWIW.... . my fam of 5... wife/12/15/17 year olds do fine in the Gladiator... even 1000 mile road trips.

For sure! We have done a few hours here and there with only minor issues.

Only place Gladiator is going immediately is on a 3.5 hour mini road trip this weekend šŸ˜„ No tradsies yet.

But, its fun to look at options...

Well turns out, probably unlike property, there is another 2019 identical to the one above (color, package, everything), with 40K less miles, an hour the other direction.

I won't have time to entertain that until Monday.

Hopefully it sells šŸ˜‚
Not married to your Jeep, that's sacrilege.
You need to quit looking, or your gonna end up with one.

You altleast need a 2020, 2019 had too much torque management. 2020 and up get to use all the power.
And yes, there is a noticeable difference between the 19 and 20. Worked with a guy that had the 19, I had the 20. I could pull on him in the lower gears. Once he found out, it really chapped his hide.

That Duramax is a hoot, feels kinda like an old big block. Not a hot rodded one, just a big fat lazy one. One that will smoke the tires at will, at anything under 30mph. 0-70 in about 30ft, with a big old cloud of smoke and burning rubber smell. I could leave some crazy long dual black marks.

The 19's are the last year of the real Allison though. I know there are folks that like both, and I have heard that the 10 speed is amazing when it you have a good one. Those trucks are also getting out of my price range. My window shopping is in the $40K range šŸ˜„

Also the 19s are before Chevrolet went to the upside down forehead looking trucks šŸ˜„

When did Chev move the DEF fill from under the hood to with the fuel fill? My 2020 was behind the fuel door.

I deal with too many tight parking spots to not hate having a full sized truck. They’re also useless offroad in a lot of the places I go. Way too wide and even longer wheelbase.

'20 was the they moved it. '19s still have it hanging under the door like a tumor.

Certainly something to consider. Gladiators park some kinda lovely.

I dont do much offroading anymore, but when I do (basically just going to some unimproved camp sites) it sure is nice.

One of the reasons that I traded my Silverado in on a JKU Rubicon was when I took it camping, I had to do a 27 pt turn around at the campsite. Dispersed camping site. Doesn’t sound like that big of a deal, but it was the last straw. That and I knew I was moving to CO and shelf roads are built around th track width of a jeep and it takes balls of steel to wheel anything full width out there.

Sounds like good reasons to me.

I have no hard reasons either way at the moment. Either are gonna do the job, and both have strengths I could lean into.

You needed that extra payload for your giant balls. šŸ˜‚

I’m way too afraid of heights, and likely eminent death if you go over the edge. I don’t think I’ve done hurricane pass, but on a lot of the shelf roads, full width doesn’t leave enough margin for error. I did a lot of trails there. I can’t remember where hurricane pass is.

My oldest son and DIL were with us and they thought I was crazy!
Interestingly enough I stopped at the Ranger station the day before and he told me thetrack to the Pass was opening the next day. He asked me what kind of vehicle I had and I just told him a 4x4 pick up truck.. We saw him at the top and he just shook his head and said amazing!

Here’s another picture from earlier that morning..

There are some self roads out there that I’ve been on that that are also off camber. there’s no Fing way I would ever do that in a full-size. They were scary enough in my Jeep and Xterra both where I had some margin for error when my tires slipped.

The scariest off camber one was outside of ouray and there was a sharp bend where the rocks were wet and the passenger side wheels had to got over some rocks which really tilted you. So shelf road with a sharp bend and wet rocks on one side. I can’t remember which trail it was.
