I don't wave. I've been riding bikes my while life and have always waved at other bikers.

It's my opinion that it's purely a marketing hook and I'm not taking the bait. They try to make a greater sense of exclusivity. If Tesla started marketing the "Tesla thumbs up" everyone would be laughing their ass off.

If drivers is WWII did wave to each other i'm sure it didn't matter what kind of vehicle they were driving. It's about a brotherhood. Those guys were driving in a dangerous situation called war and can relate to each other. Motorcycle riders are riding in a dangerous situation and can relate to each other. Cruising around, on my leather seats, ac on, radio bumping, surrounded by a cage is the same for a 80 year old guy that's been driving for 60+ years, to a 16 year old girl that just received her learners permit. There's no brotherhood just because we bought the same type of vehicle. If you disagree then why not have at the person driving the Compass? It's called a Jeep wave, not a Wrangler wave.

I wave but I'm fortunate enough to live rural. Throwing up a hand is pretty much the norm, Jeep or not.

When i bought my first jeep. 1974 cj5 in 1974 there were few enough jeeps on the road it was a simple aknoledgment of a likely kindred soul, few people drove CJs on the highwY so seeing one was like running into a friend. I dont wave as much because jeeps are just cars now but in my CJ I do wave at other CJs....

Every now and then I end up in a sandwich line or something and the guy waiting in front of me is rude to the sandwich chick / dude for no reason at all.

Employee: "Sir, how can I help you?"

Tough-guy: "Umm, I need a sandwich, obviously..."

Bought my first Jeep (CJ5) back in ~'84, and have been waving ever since. I wave at all Wranglers (CJ's, etc), Gladiators, and any built-looking Cherokee, GC, or Liberty. I *USUALLY* get a wave back if they're paying attention. If they don't, I don't take it personally.

I’d take that rural attitude all day long…….. My backyard borders a big farmers field. We sit in our back patio and enjoy the little slice of ‘rural’ that we can get.
Hearing the cows Moo’ing & the roosters crowing in the distance.

I can’t complain where we live…. You can walk a mile and be in the middle of all these farmers fields, corn, & cows. Drive a few miles to the burbs and 50 miles to a major city - of which, we avoid like the plaque.

Nice grass!! Had to put that green temp fencing up to keep the coyotes and bobcats off the porch. More than a few times I’ve looked out the window to see a big curious cat head staring back. Doesn’t impede out gopher snakes though. They just mosey on through like they own the place.

I wave at all Jeep usually. Even when im in our Hyundai but sometimes i don't. You can't catch them all. Ducks are fun for those who enjoy it, though its not my thing. When i get one, I just pass it on to someone who might appreciate it more. I just don't like garbage on my dash. It's just as bad a seeing that "lady" with her feet up on the dash. FFS , tell her to put her feet down. No one want to see that!!

This is me in the wife's car. In the jeep she gets mad if people don't wave back when I wave. In her car if I do wave, she says I am desperate for attention.
