Towing Capacity of 2024 Gladiator Willys

I know this has been brought up before, but I'm still confused on the towing capacity / payload of the Willys. I see 4000 and 6000. Most suggest 4000, because it's unclear if it comes with the towing package (although it is specced with a Class IV hitch, which kind of suggests it comes with the standard 6000 lbs rating). I also think that the 240a alternator might be included with the Cargo Rails package and cold weather group (the options for which seem to be in the convenience group).

Anyway, attached is the window sticker of a Jeep I'm looking at -maybe someone can tell me definitively because the dealership can't.

I only see the 3.73 axle and no mention of the max tow package so I'm going to say 4000 pounds. It's best to check by VIN to get the most accurate capacities for your truck - you can check vin.com or generalrv.com/towing-capacity. Trailer Life, Camping World. and State Farm used to have tools as well, but I didn't see them today.

Max Tow is Sport S specific. But a Sport S with 3.73 axle specced the standard tow package is 6000 lbs. Just trying to figure out if the standard tow package is embedded in the Willys package since it does come with the class IV receiver.

Appreciate the links, but neither one works. Camping World is saying 6000 lbs - that does "feel" right because the Willys package seems to include the standard towing package on the Sport S. But Camping World also rates all Sport, Sport S, and Nighthawk at 7700 lbs - just assumes that they have the Max Tow package.

It'd be nice if Jeep was a little more clear on this.

While I see the class IV receiver and the 4 and 7 pin trailer connectors, I do NOT see the 240 amp alternator or heavy duty cooling that one would get with the trailer package.

Ergo, this particular vehicle, as equipped, is only 4,000 lbs towing capacity.

Can it tow 6,000 lbs? Certainly but, without the extra cooling and electrical capacity, you're asking for trouble if you wish to tow long distances in hot weather.

I would stick to the 4K lb restriction with this one.

If you find another one that has the 'tow package' listed, then that is the route I would go if you are wishing to tow long distance with heavier trailers.

I tow a 27', 5,100 lb (with all we want or need) travel trailer with my Overland (ordered 5/19, delivered 7/19) that has the trailer package. Even on 100 degree days, engine temp doesn't get over 220 degrees. Trans and oil temps are also in the safe range, due to having the heavy duty cooling installed.

Again, if you want to tow longer distances, even if your trailer falls in the 4K lb or less category, I strongly suggest getting one with the tow package.

I've looked at dozens of Willys and have never seen one with the tow package. I really think this is a manual vs automatic distinction. According to this VIN decoder, the vehicle does have a 240 amp:

Thanks - this is great. So, it shows 240amp, trailer sway dampening, 7-4 pin, and trailer zoom. Does not show trailer tow pkg specifically, but aren't these the components of that package?

you should be fine near that limit. The one problem with the Willies trim is the payload and towing capabilies are always low. The payload is awful hence why i did not complete my order for the new '41 special edition 2026 trim. i Saw one with only 875lbs of payload. My base sport has 1751lbs of payload. The Willies trim is Beautiful and very offroad ready with rear lockers but falls short of the sport and sport s models in payload and towing. Good luck
