Funny, I went opposite. I didn’t want to take my totes out so I needed it to be floorless, my totes sleep on the left I sleep on the right.
That thought had crossed my mind as a pro for the floorless version.
Originally I bought mine for a trip to Disneyland for my wife's 50th birthday. We had planned to road trip down and back, camping here and there. Since it was gonna be two of us in the tent, I couldn't leave anything back there.
It worked out great. On the way down we stayed in the Redwoods 1st night and at Colonel Allensworth State Park Campground the 2nd night. Watch out for scorpions there.
On the way home, I messed up and we ended up driving too long. It was getting late, so we stayed at a hotel. We were close enough to home we just bee lined it the next day.

I need to make up a tote with the tent, air mattress and sleeping bags to leave in the truck. We've been out and about in the National Forest and commented about staying if only we had our stuff.

My wife only joins if we bring the trailer so this is my solo setup. We want to get to the redwoods within the next year or two. I used this set up doing the Rubicon trail and my only sleepless night was due to a bear that was trying to get into our food right outside my truck, unbeknownst (finally got to use this word) to me, from 2-5am! Bag 1 bear 0:

Retired. Finally !!
I almost got one of those truck bed tents. But I have Molle panels on all 3 sides. Crap clamped to those panels. And truthfully, the bed ain't that big. I have a huge 3 room Coleman tent with a swinging door, no riiiiiiiip sounds of unzipping doors. Don't need a bed tent.

Yet I still want one.

That's how I rolled out in the beginning. K.I.S.S. Just use what you have and get out into the wilderness.
That’s what I do. The funny part is I’ve been outdoors my whole life. Own a pile of high end sleeping bags, packs, tents from singles to 6 people and enough gear to take a platoon with me (wife kids and grandchildren). When I go by myself it’s this setup with a foam pad, a sleeping bag appropriate to the night temps and a small cooler and I’m out the door!!!

I’m up in the Snowy’s in WY this weekend. Will post some pics tomorrow when I come off the mountains.

Is there a camping meal thread ? I see a breakfast one. I want food for 3 days that I have zero meal prep or cook time. Fine with beef jerky :D
Peak Refuel meals are awesome……..The bisquits and gravy breakfast is amazing.
