The first few times I thought the same about setup time but like everything else the more you do it the easiest it gets. Now it's just a few minutes as soon as I arrive and done. On the way home I drop it on everything underneath, throw a cargo net over it and clean up and sort the mess out when I get home or next day. Those are pretty slick. Like you say, a simple solution and you're off the ground. I personally prefer that for cleanliness. If someone is looking for a tent like that, I have one that needs a new home. They're actually pretty cool leveraging the tailgate like they do. Just longer to setup that I'm willing to spend.
Since I live in the Southwest this is a 4 season setup except in really snowy areas which are easy to avoid for me. Many times I don't even put up the tent, just a mattress and sleeping bag on the bed and done. Wife requires more privacy so she's the final vote when she comes along.
