My concern isn't the repair; it's what other shit will go wrong after they ham-fist this repair to get it out the door....

I have checked mine before and after driving, no unusual heat, no sign of any damage, I have had my Jeep for 5 years.
I wonder what could possible change now all of a sudden to cause a fire? What catalyst could occur to make that happen?

Nothing.

The gist of this recall is there was a defect identified that may result in a condition that may result in a loose connection that may result in excess heat production that may result in something catching fire. The chances of all those things lining up are pretty slim as evidenced by the small number of fires versus the large number of affected vehicles, but to be fair the chance does still exist.

The way I look at it is if you've had no problems with your power steering thus far, and when you performed an inspection of your pump you found no evidence of heat damage, then it's extremely likely that you don't have all the links in the chain needed to cause a fire and thus no reasonable justification to worry. There's nothing wrong with erring on the side of caution and following the advice to park outside, but if you do your due diligence by inspecting the pump connector yourself and find no evidence of a fault then that should also be sufficient to put your mind at ease. I continue to park mine inside the garage for this reason.

I would say that risk exists in every vehicle made which is why I'm not worried about it.

I’m on the list so I’ve been looking out the window every few minutes but so far no smoke. Seriously though, I will crawl under and take a look once things dry up later this week. I’m not worried enough to stop driving or call a dealer but once the fix is posted, I’ll either do it myself or take it in. Depending on the expense and difficulty.

No need to crawl underneath to see the connector on the ecodiesel, you can see it from above as shown in post #237.

The diesel pump is rotated about 90 deg relative to the gas pump. No idea why, presumably some clearance issue somewhere. If you loosen the center section of the intercooler hard pipe, you have good access to the harnesses from above. (If you don’t loosen it, you may still be able to wiggle some fingers or small tools in there.)

I recently had my pump out entirely to install the Apex boost valve and cooler. It wasn’t super hard, mainly annoying that the instructions don’t cover diesels and I had to piece together tips from many different YouTube videos. Not stoked that I might have to do it all again - twice - to put it back to stock for the recall work, then reinstall afterwards.

Any chance any of these recent repairs were caused by this recall problem? Trying to make lemonade here...

With my '22 under the recall, I'm wondering if this is what caused my loss of power assist a couple years ago. I had experienced it briefly within the first 6 months and then several times on a single trip (at interstate speeds) 2 years ago along with some 12v system error codes.

The dealer spent significant time trying to debug, checking connections, grounds, etc. Only found a bad aux battery, haven't experienced it since, but wonder if in their fiddling they tightened up the connection. I know I found fuses and a few other connectors that felt loose from the factory.

🤞this is it, it's been a big concern for how long we keep this truck we love. We've had the Pentatick experience but that is a relatively cheap DIY repair, easy to identify early (now) and not really a safety concern.
