. Thanks for the quick response, I guess I’ll be buying a Windows PC. 😂
This is from the JL forum: UTM

It would let you run windows on an apple silicon mac in emulation mode, so it would be slow, but apparently it works.

I've sent my MPVI2 into to be upgraded to an MPVI4 and I may have to end up using UTM. My old used Lenovo notebook that I bought to use the MPVI2 on my old Audi doesn't have any USB C ports, so I'll have to see if the MPVI4 and the Lenovo work well enough together.

The MPVI4 is USBC to USBC, so at a minimum you would need adaptor.

I am using an old Lenovo laptop also. I have bought an usb c 3 to usb a cable and that works with the MPVI4. It need to be a high quality cable though. I tried several cheap ones and it wouldn’t communicate with the MPVI4. There are adapters also that will work.

This is the one I purchased from Amazon.

VMWare Fusion is free now for personal use, and supports USB passthrough where UTM has to use QEMU to capture/emulate USB support. QEMU doesn't work with a lot USB devices, so VMWare is what I'd try if I had to. If someone is telling you that they know for a fact (from their own experience) that a UTM install will work with MPVI4 then I guess you're good, but if this is an "it should work..." situation then I'd put my money on VMWare.

I can't vouch to having either one working with MPVI4 - I did try using Parallels Desktop on an M1 Macbook several years ago to work with Harley Davidson SuperTuner and ThunderMax tuners/software, and while both software programs ran on it, communicating through USB to the tuners/motorcycle DID NOT work. After that I dug out an old Chromebook and hacked it to run Windows 10 for stuff like this. Good luck and do let us know if/how you get your Mac working with it.

FYI for potential or existing customers, thanks to the help of a guy who knows how to decipher ECU coding, we now have control of cooling fan settings on both GPEC2A and GPEC5 units. This is a big development! From here on out, I'll be setting most of my customer up for fan temps around 205 (even if AC is off) to 210 versus the factory 217-220. Any current customers wanting this update checked on their OS should email me.

I have received my MVPI4. I'm up here at our cabin at an elevation of 6600 feet until November. I can't afford the two weeks of vehicle down time to ship the OE PCM to HP Tuners to get it unlocked until then.

Before I start trying to find a dealership willing to sell and then program a second GPEC5 PCM for my JTR, would there be any issues doing the WOT runs and logging up here in the thinner air? Or would it be better to wait until November when I'm back in Phoenix at an elevation of 1200 feet?

Best to just wait until you’re all set with the unlocked ECU. Especially since there is a chance the dealer will update both your existing ECU and the new one to the latest software which often changes tuning parameters anyways.

Just a little update since the JT side of my business has been slower compared to the JL side....

To date, I have tuned 6 JT 3.6 Gladiators, they tune exactly like the JL. I have done 27 JL Wranglers since this post was made. Everyone across the board is extremely happy and everyone says the same things - dramatic improvement to usable power under 3000 RPM, smoother powerband, no more stutter from VVL/VVT system, better transmission shifting, better cooling fan managements, stop start disable, and much much more. There is no other tuner out there who is taking things like daily use, heavy tires and mods, gear set up, fuel quality, elevation, into consideration when building a tune on this platform. There is also no one else tuning on this platform who is converting .HPT files into .BIN files to create custom defined parameters to address areas in the tune that even HP Tuners has not defined. This is was separates a "tooner" from a calibrator.

Here is a Youtube video I made talking about my process and what kinds of things I modify in the file itself.

Could I still pass NW Indiana emissions testing?
Yep you should be fine. I’ve got customers in New York, Illinois, and California which are pretty strict that haven’t reported any issues. You can always flash back to stock a few weeks before emissions testing if you’re concerned.

Retired. Finally !!
I read the entire thing and found it extremely interesting to say the least.

I must admit I am ignorant in The Ways of the Engine... I haven't noticed any of the issues this mod cures. Not saying they aren't there; I just haven't noticed. I hit the gas; it goes. I hit the brakes; it stops. I guess I look at this vehicle as a Jeep, not a Lambo. 1/4 mile run times are not in my wheelhouse. Especially on a vehicle with the aerodynamics of a barn.

I understand there are those that want to get everything out of an engine that it can offer and I am envious of their endeavors. I'm a simple man. When I push the start button and the engine turns over; that's the beginning of a good day, I can't ask for more.....

As June comes to an end just wanted to thank the forum and it's users for all the great support and trust, and a big thank you to those of you who have wrote very nice posts and reviews about the product.

Another 10 Jeeps got tuned this month, 3 of those were Gladiators, and I think the word about how much better we can make these things drive is spreading. I will continue to strive to give you the most refined and enjoyable tune all while providing speedy customer service.

Anyways, thanks again to everyone.

I apologize if I missed any reference to the manual version tuning, But I would be interested in cleaning up the lower end of my manual gladiators tune. Its pretty dead below 2200 rpm, 3k and up it pulls as good as I can expect for a jeep on 37's :)Also can you address rev hang with the manual?
