Need help guys !
My brand new 1500 mile truck has what seems to be a major issue. Took my brother for a joy ride this afternoon and let him hop behind the wheel. We pulled out of my driveway fine but then he proceeded up one of the hills in my neighborhood when the jeep started sputtering and seemingly unable to shift . I told him it was his big feet ! So I jumped in only to find the same malfunction's . It never stalled or triggered any codes. The nearest dealer is a half hour away. I’m going to call them on Monday and have them tow it in .

All I can say is I’m glad it’s under warranty

It started almost immediately
No acceleration and what seemed like trouble finding a gear . Giving it more gas seemed to make it worse.
I also am a little worried about the dealership I bought it from so I may try one with a better record

How long has it been since you bought the truck? And in your part of the world, you might want to make sure it isn't a resale out of North Carolina from the floods.

You might want to run a CarFax on it to get the full history.

Sounds like shitty gas. Did you recently fill up? Dump a can of dry gas in the tank and try again.

The correct answer is "it's under warranty" - don't touch anything, don't try to fix it yourself. Make sure it has at least a half tank of fuel so the tech can test it and let them look at it.

You bought new with a warranty for a reason.

Oh, there will be dash lights on. Especially if you make the drive to the dealership. Let them get it with a flatbed. Ant white smoke from the exhaust? What does it smell like? 1500 miles means it has been filled up a few times. Could diesel fuel been inadvertently added ? It would smoke a bit but a restart would be difficult. If diesel was the last fuel put in you may get a whiff of it at the fill port.

Good luck finding out the problem.

Ordinarily I'd say clear the system by disconnecting the batteries, waiting and then discharging any thing left by touching the positive and negative cables while disconnected. This should clear the ECU and reset the whole shooting match.

But you're under warranty and it's entirely possible for the ECU to throw codes without a CEL.

The service department needs to be able to read those codes without any issues. Tell the dealer to send a rollback and let them do their thing.

I'm in the bad (water) in the gas club. When you started up the hill the water moved to the pick-up. Just a word of caution, IF it turns out to be water (which the dealer will not warranty) you have to go to the gas station (hopefully with a receipt) for repairs. MAKE SURE your dealer documents water contamination as the cause. Specifically have them document any possible harm to the expensive fuel system components (fuel pumps injectors, lines etc).

I had experience with this on a Ford 550... almost $11k in repairs and the truck wasn't ever quite right after.... to the point that I traded it off on a RAM

Any gas station is ONE delivery very away from having water in their gas. They all buy from the cheapest truck they can find. What you describe has happened to me before several times. And that is NOT a warranty repair. You’re on your own for cost.
