Nebraska- Hwy 2 cuts across state east-west and traverses the grass covered sand dunes. Really about the only thing worth seeing in Nebraska. Theres Carhenge too if you're into that stuff. And of course Corn Palace... lol

South Dakota- Enter Badlands from the south via Nebraska. Camp amongst the bison at Sage Creek Campground or along the viewpoints of bombing range road. Continue west to the Black Hills, spend a few days here, tons to see and explore. Hike the highest peak between the Rockies and the Alps, check out a fire tower for amazing views for 100's of miles etc

Wyoming- Devils Tower is a must see but the absolute best thing to see via 4 wheels or 2 in WY in my opinion is the Beartooth Pass from Red Lodge MT to the east entrance of Yellowstone. Camp out along the Morrison Jeep trail near the top but do not attempt the whole trail going downhill towards Cody, the switchbacks are best going uphill. Then of course there's Yellowstone and the Tetons...

Montana- Medicine Rocks State Park is a pretty awesome mostly unknown gem if you happen to be in that part of the state. Glacier NP is the highlight though and the drive from West Glacier to Kintla lake to camp/kayak at the lake is bucket list worthy. Be sure to stop at Polebridge and get a few Huckleberry Bearclaws, you'll thank me later... I could go on and on about MT..

Utah- Moab, of course. But there is soooooooo much more. The White Rim Trail in Canyonlands should be on every Jeep owners bucket list. Arches, Monument Valley, Capital Reef, Zion, Dinosaur National Monument. Seriously, spend some time in Utah..

I can add more to these and other states later if you'd like

So far we have Things like:

AZ - Grand Canyon / Music Museum
UT - Moab
FL - Underground Cave (Swimming)
WA - Ferry to Vancouver (was a good idea)
AK - We would like to see or do Camp Under the Northern Lights
WY - Grand Tetons / (multistate yellowstone
I did a very similar trip back in 2014 when I left Hawaii to a new duty station in NC. Had my Rubicon dropped off at a Vehicle Port in Richmond CA. We drove across Country hitting every National Park we could in one Month. One very amazing spot we heard about from a local in a coffee shop in Moab was the White Rim Trail. It is located just outside of Moab and it’s in the Canyon Lands National Park. It is a 100 mile off road trail that is easy to moderate. There are several primitive camping spots along the trail that need to be reserved once you check in at the Park Ranger Station. FYI, it is required to have an additional 5 gallon gas can and water can with you. I bought those in Moab at a hiking store. This trail was incredible, it handrails the Colorado River. It was not hard by any measure to complete and it took less than 2 days. We did it over 2 days, starting early the first day and camped over night then finished it out the next and continued on our trip to Colorado. The first picture is actually Monument Valley, UT. The rest are of the White Rim Trail.

Other Definite go to spots that are great for passing through:
-Zion National Park
-Bryce Canyon
-Monument Valley, UT on an Indian Reservation
-Drive to top of Pikes Peak, Colorado. Rocky Mountain National Park

PM if you need additional info, I saved our routes and data from the trip.

It is, you will want to pick up this book for the best info and maps.

https://www.amazon.com/Guide-Moab-B...4&s=gateway&sprefix=Charles+we,aps,168&sr=8-1

He has a trail book for several different states, if he has one available for a state you plan to do any off roading in then get it, there is no better info on the trails he covers short of local knowledge.

You will need to book campsites way in advance for the white rim if you are trying to go anytime other than dead of summer or winter. There are very few sites and they book fast. White Crack or Murphy Hogback A are my favorites.

Oh, and if you have the opportunity to do so, try to book a campsite on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. You will need to book this waaayyy out, they're kinda hard to score. I managed one for this May at Point Sublime the day after the Overland Expo, super excited about it...

is that a heikki kovalainen decal?
Yup, it started when I was stationed in Hawaii. He is greater than I. I’ve put one on every jeep since.

When you hit New England, if it's in the fall, you must go to the local cider mills and go pumpkin hunting. The mills are from early America on too... kids will enjoy the pressed apple cider and mom and dad will enjoy the hard apple cider too
