I coach my Salesforce to never pre-judge what someone will or won't spend on their vehicle. You never know what that vehicle means to them.

I'm with you homie. Only reason I bothered at all is people came in saying I'm a guy and this happened to me so your experience isn't special or noteworthy. It's like the definition of mansplaining, which is a stupid word for a real thing that we just witnessed. The only person here who knows what happened is OP. I'm only concerned that there are people trying to say she misinterpreted the situation as if they know better.
Yes, this is a troll move and I'm REALLY not trying to start a fight, BUT:
Isn't that EXACTLY what you're doing?
Do we really have to be SO PC, that we can't have an opinion or input?
OP sounds like she can TOTALLY take care of herself, and just wanted to vent.
WE ALL KNOW peeps are asses, WE ALL KNOW some salespeople are even bigger asses.
WHY does it have to always boil into a PC discussion over sex, color, any other bolchit?
SOME PEOPLE JUST SUCK.

I think I was the white guy who was being referred to. I did not say she misinterpreted the salesman's behavior. I was merely providing anecdotal evidence that she may have assumed that it was her age and the fact that she was a woman, and it very well may have. I said don't take it personal because it happens to everyone and added the fact that I am a 48 year old white guy who has had the same thing happen as further evidence. I have a very sweet and beautiful 15 year old daughter that is going to have bad things happen to her in her life but I am doing my best to teach her that bad people exist, they have since the time of Jesus and they will still be here when He returns.

Better to be underestimated and humble then the opposite......then you control the situation.

I always loved this quote and credit should be due to original person and it may be fitting for any forum....

“Better to be quiet and thought a fool than to open your mouth and prove it!”

It's all good. I think everyone has their heart in the right place. If anything, you all are making me laugh that you are arguing over this. :)

I think at first glance, some of the things might have seemed a little harsh, so I see where @beelzebot is trying to say something about that. But... as @JP1 said:

OP sounds like she can TOTALLY take care of herself, and just wanted to vent.

I totally agree with this!! And yes, I can take care of myself, needed to vent, but having people stick up for you is always a good feeling too. :)

@TennesseePA I totally understand where you are coming from. My dad taught me to trust but verify, and we know all too well how fucked up people can be. I am normally a pretty calm person, but dammit, the Gladiator is my dream truck and I worked hard to get where I am in life.

You deserve it everyone deserves everything they work for and obtain honestly. Trust but verify...I sure do love President Ronaldus Magnus Reagan, even if he was elected when I was 9. And I was correct that your dad and I are of the same generation.

I'm sorry. I clearly misunderstood your intentions and didn't bother to ask you to clarify before ranting. My fault.

You're not wrong. It's been on my mind a lot as I've been helping a coworker deal with similar issues. Maybe I'm projecting. Maybe I'm an idiot. Maybe both. Maybe I need some of that Jesus TennesseePA is talking about. I am the robot devil after all.

No worries my friend and if I may say it out loud we all need Jesus. I don't see how people exist in the world without believing He has your back. Luckily He has your back even if you don't have His.

As an independent professional-trade woman I pissed off a lot of dealers.... I don't dress fancy, prefer to drive my beat up rusty 2002 loud diesel excursion half the year (until the weather is nice enough to bring out my Comanche or my JT arrives) and seem to end up knowing more than them about their products. I am also not afraid to call them on stuff. If they ignore me I am sure to tell them to pay attention. My guy even stands back and ignores them if they try to talk to him instead... my favorite was when the sales guy tried to tell me gear ratios on a wrangler were adjustable through programming the computer. There was also the time when I needed a reliable commuter for my masters program and he flat out told me I couldn't afford anything in the showroom.... Fun times... and of course didnt buy from him. And three years later here I am buying a JT!

The women at dealerships and automotive anything hate me just as much... I've been told many times that I'm a threat to them most likely because they thought they were special for being "Making it in a man's world".... and in comes this rough n tumble no nonsense ED nurse who did her homework, knows her $#!+, and also turns wrenches on the side.

I don't try to pick these fights it just happens. Im no better than anyone i just don't have time to beat around the proverbial Bush.

Age, gender, income, nationality.... doesn't matter. If you are not the customer they imagined, they are not the dealer you want.

/rant.

Thanks, @ShikGluon, for the initial post. 'Preciate the discussion folks!

I'm just glad that I'm not the only woman on here. I want to be a better educated Jeep owner (this JT will be my fourth Jeep) and am predisposed to like all of you just 'cause you're here!
