Some of our products for other Jeep models memorize the SPORT mode setting in addition to the Engine Stop Start (ESS) setting. There is no SPORT mode in the Gladiator, so this feature does not apply. Only ESS is memorized and recalled.

The ESS System is such a pain in my GC. Def not for me and I was so happy when I seen that the Gladiator didn't have it. I always feared that for some reason (just my luck) that the Jeep would turn off and not turn back on and I'd be stranded.

I have one on a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and it works flawlessly. Never had an issue.

EDIT: OOOH You're talking about ESS - Electronic Stop Start. The actual feature that shuts the motor off when you come to a full stop. Yes - it is a pain.

SmartStartStop is a module that disables that feature for you. So technically you would love a SmartStartStop module...

I dislike ESS, but I don't understand the hassle of pushing a button to shut it off. I push a button to start the Jeep, then another to turn off ESS. It's muscle memory now.

If you want to do a quick hack to disable your ESS, here's the solution -

The only thing is that when you disconnect the second hood pin, you'll always have the warning light on your dash.
