I posted this in another thread. Look at the net present value of a lease versus buy. Compare your lease payments with tax each month, money down, security deposit, and residual value at the end of said lease with what it would cost you to finance it for what ever term you want. Do not forget to calculate in any type of return you may receive based on money saved on monthly payments on a lease versus a loan. If you want, use the attached file and crunch some numbers yourself. Be educated going into the deal and do not let them tell you any differently.
Did you put this leasebuy exel file together? That thing is awesome. I was going to quick make something for @Rex3rd, but this is quite complex...... AWESOME!

No, unfortunately that’s not the case and is a blanket statement. Net Present Value for lease versus a buy allows you to compare leasing, with a buyout at the end, to a traditional loan and if would cost the same/less/more in the end when you finance the buyout of said lease. If it will be the same/less than a buy option and the monthly payments are lower, you can take that extra $$ and either invest it or pay for mods.

Hope that made sense.
Now that I’m sober, I understand what you mean lol. Had a fantasy football draft, got blasted  and attempted to look at the forum last night :computerrage:

Forgive me, I’ll try not to drink and read about financial comparisons again lol

I've skimmed the thread here, so sorry if I missed this, but has anyone secured a lease on a Gladiator yet? Im curious how accurate the Jeep site quotes are to an actual quote.

I'd like to know but don't want to go through the dealership nonsense right now just to get blindsided.

The Jeep site is the least accurate thing in the world lol. It’s not even close

I feel stupid lol I just looked at the file and it's litteraly like I'm trying to decifer Chinese :giggle:
My MBA concentration was finance and we spent A LOT of time on Net Present Value. I did not put it together as it was provided to us by our professor. It is complicated until you start reading about the different aspects of it. When it comes down to it we are all adults, or at least pretend to be at work, so you will choose the path you want even if you can not financially swig it. The heart wants what it wants. This is nothing more than a way to crunch the numbers and see which route would be the best course of action. Does not mean you have to follow it. I chose to buy because I believed the residual value at the end of a 4 year lease was extremely high would have been on the losing end of a lease vs buy.

Always going to be dependent on your individual credit score, money down, etc.

Yes- lots of people lease. Best to determine what your build will actually cost, then use a lease calculator. It’s hard to compare apples to apples because of different state tax laws, actual sale price vs. MSRP, and individual money factor (based on credit), etc. I find the Jeep site inaccurate because it doesn’t allow for a sale price below MSRP.

True, I was just wondering if anyone had some real world experience in getting a lease on one. I know credit, sales tax, other things apply.

For me though those things would be negligible, my trade would offset a large portion of sales tax and my credit would be top tier. I guess I'll just have to tough it up and sit down with a sales person. I just hate that it never seems to get through to them that I want numbers and not necessarily want to make a purchase right there and then.

The last thing you should do is sit down with a sales person. Build the Jeep you want using the price configurator available on this website, then use a lease calculator. Sales people will just screw things up. Everyone who leased quoting their monthly rate won’t even give you a true comparison, because we all bought different options, live in different states, put different amounts down (I put down $0), traded in or didn’t, have different lease duration, credit scores, etc. You are the only person who knows your individual situation.

I don't have an MBA but majored in finance, economics, and real estate development.

Well you are much smarter than I am my friend. I was a criminal justice major and was in way over my head when it came to some of the MBA classes. I really had to bust my butt to ensure I graduated with an acceptable (to me) GPA. Just wanted to have a plan B for later in life.

I am planning on leasing mine for 42 months, I usually don't lease because I keep my vehicles 8 to 10 years, but there's two reasons I am considering leasing. It will be a third vehicle for me and I wanted the lower payment, also I bought an early production Cherokee and to be honest it was a POS and I traded it in for a Durango ,and although I didn't lose a ton on it I lost enough to make me leery of buying another early production vehicle ,plus I'm pretty sure when my lease is up any accessories I buy will swap over to a new one
