Okay this is a pic that was posted in another group. Apparently it was a concept vehicle back in 2013-2014.
I want my spare put on the side like this one. It’s just awesome. That’s the only thing I feel is missing in the design of the Gladiator, the spare tire. Anybody got any ideas?

Try to offer Jeep five million dollars for that truck. Doubt anyone will have a side mounted carrier. But I bet you can find some fabricator to make you such a mount.

Too bad they moved the gas cap up to that location.

The extra length of the Gladiator allowed them to move the gas tank forward and find space underneath for the tire.

I think that the gas tank may actually be on the drivers side. Not entirely certain about this. But a few days ago I was looking under a Gladiator and I wondered where the gas tank is and I think it’s on the passenger side. That’s what it looked like to me. So why put the filer on the drivers side? Go figure!

Wouldn't you not be able to access the rear passenger door with tire mounted there?

It would prevent access to the rear door. One might fit behind the rear wheel, though.

I remember this being a fairly common mounting point for step side pick ups in the 60's and into the early 70's. I also remember about 99% of them thrown into the back of the truck and the spare carrier left unused. I had a 65 Dodge D100 with a side spare carrier, the spare was in the bed.

This vehicle was actually from 2005. As with most Jeep concepts, it was unveiled at that year's Easter Jeep Safari in Moab. It has always been one of my favorite concepts...and I've inspected every one every year since they started showing them at EJS. The top on this Gladiator was not removable, but it had an open-air canvas roof. The doors were removable. The windshield folded. And it was a diesel.

And just for grins, my side-mounted spare from 1974 when I moved to Moab (the yellow top didn't last long...repainted it to match my shirt):

I think this could be used on the passenger side to do it, just flip the l bracket. It'd probably end up cab height to not block the door, but should be doable.

You’re absolutely right. Then I thought the tailgate but it doesn’t really look right unless there was a cargo rack or something to give height behind the tire. Bummer.

I like the look of the spare tire showing on Jeeps. Is it needed? No. But it’s wanted.
