I see multiple posts about 5% or 7% or whatever and making road trips to get it. Tread Lightly get's me 1% at home.

I've called and emailed around and I live in an apparent deadzone of deals. I don't have money on the table yet so it's not a real sample but I'm looking at at least 4 hours for a theoretical extra 2%. On my build that works out to a $1,067 savings. I'm looking at a rubicon but $1k is real money. If I look at the hassle of burning a weekend, possibly a hotel room, and then have any issue after the sale, not to mention burning my local dealer that will service it if needed by going elsewhere, I don't know that it's worth it. I've had much more fun weekends at that cost.

Travis at tricity is tempting because right after I started seriously looking at them I took a minivan to NC and it sold me on the gladiator. I don't have a week to burn in the smokeys so it would just be a 12 hour drive there and back + a hotel in there possibly.

I fully plan to discuss it with my dealer and accept 1-3% over 5% and not have to drive anywhere. Not to mention it's their jeep then and there's a little loyalty built in.

At roughly $500 per 1% how far would you drive for 1%?

“What would you do for a Klondike Bar?”

Oh. Right.

In my area it has been totally dead. A couple dealers wouldn’t even accept affiliate pricing and above MSRP. It came to a point that if I wanted a JT, it was either for too much money or at the price of a road trip. Tri-City was the best deal and the closest distance at about a 10 hour drive each way. Then as I was about to pull the trigger, another dealer popped up at 1% better with my own financing at half the distance AND just happened to be in my hometown. Now we’re looking forward to the trip and get to stop in to see family. Sometimes it just works!

I am willing to go pretty far but I justify it as I rather spend that money doing a cool road trip with my girlfriend in a new car than giving it to a dealer.

At the time I ordered Tri-City was offering 5% with affiliate pricing (I want to use my own financing). I got 6% at Mall of Georgia Jeep with Mike Clinnin.

I’m a truck driver and I literally drive for a living. When I worked 8.5% under invoice, I still wasn’t willing to drive 2.5 hours down and 2.5 hours back on my day off so I just had them bring it to me. They put it in my driveway and I signed the papers at my dining room table. Best way to get a vehicle lol

I wouldn't worry at all about this. Dealers are wh###s when it comes to servicing cars. It's warranty work and they're getting revenue for it from FCA. This is how the money is made, to a large extent.
