I see multiple posts about 5% or 7% or whatever and making road trips to get it. Tread Lightly get's me 1% at home.
I've called and emailed around and I live in an apparent deadzone of deals. I don't have money on the table yet so it's not a real sample but I'm looking at at least 4 hours for a theoretical extra 2%. On my build that works out to a $1,067 savings. I'm looking at a rubicon but $1k is real money. If I look at the hassle of burning a weekend, possibly a hotel room, and then have any issue after the sale, not to mention burning my local dealer that will service it if needed by going elsewhere, I don't know that it's worth it. I've had much more fun weekends at that cost.
Travis at tricity is tempting because right after I started seriously looking at them I took a minivan to NC and it sold me on the gladiator. I don't have a week to burn in the smokeys so it would just be a 12 hour drive there and back + a hotel in there possibly.
I fully plan to discuss it with my dealer and accept 1-3% over 5% and not have to drive anywhere. Not to mention it's their jeep then and there's a little loyalty built in.
At roughly $500 per 1% how far would you drive for 1%?
