Dealership didn’t know what they were for, but given the fit pretty sure this is what they’re for

Yep. There is a very small mention of them in owner manual under the section about removing the top. It’s a shame the folks at dealer didn’t know. But then theres been a bunch of us JL owners that got our oil overfilled when we got it changed at the dealer. Sad.

They seem to fit there, but Jeep was thinking most would lift and set down not turn it up. The last time this came up some one showed pictures of how they go on the bottom corner so when the top tips forward and rest on the white parts you have the rubber pc on. The pictures make since because the cut corner on the rubber fit the tip forward. This protect that corner from chipping the paint on the corner.

I took my T tops off and put them in the bag. Had no idea what the rubber things were. Put the bag into the bed with the styrofoam end butted up against the tail gate, the flat side of the bag against the driver’s side of the bed. I then put one of the wedges on the front side of the bag and the right side in the bed. The bag was wedged in from all directions and didn’t move an inch on my few hour drive today.

Not certain that this was any type of intention in the design, but damn if it didn’t work. Kept the panels secured without any sliding around in the bed and was nice to keep them in the vehicle if it were to rain.

Nice hips on the 997! :involve:

Thanks for starting this thread but I don't think that's what the rubber blocks are for and SHAME ON FCA/JEEP for not telling us. I've seen owners speculate on how they are to be used but no one to my knowledge has been able to quote JEEP/FCA or the Owners Manual on how they're to be used.

I left mine in the bag until I can find out definitively WTF they're for.

Thank you for posting pictures. I was looking for the last post that brought this up. That is absolutely the correct use. But it took this forum to answer the question. I had ask a salesman, had ask Jeep in there web page ask question sections and they ask me some questions like what the serial number was.

It's not entirely clear to me how they're being used. It looks like they're being used as wedges when removing the hard top and then on the floor to protect the hardtop when put there. Is that what the above pics are showing?

If you were to take the top off and put it on the ground and let go, the top would tip forward and damage the back/bottom/front corner when it rolls forward, the rubber thing goes on this corner so when the top tips forward, it will do so on the rubber and not the painted or black colored top. When you take the top off, it should be obvious because the rubber is molded for a very exacting fit, that is the only place that it will pop in place. You can obviously put the top ON the rubber things like the OP is showing, but those rubber things are not fitting anything on that part of the top.
