I have used RockHard 4x4 products in the past so I was patiently waiting for them to release their rock rails.

I am thoroughly impressed with their products.

It all starts with a well made, well fitting product. Followed closely by the best packaging and shipping I have ever seen. Anyone who has ever ordered a cage, bumpers, or rails knows that the likelihood of your powder coating being messed up from shipping is pretty good

These were well packaged and strapped to a pallet designed larger than the boxes to protect them.

Install was fairly easy except for the weight. I installed these by myself because I just couldn’t wait for help LOL. I’m 6’2-275lbs so that probably helped but it was still a little tough.

They mount using all existing holes although the pinch weld seams on my JT were a bit Mis-alighted from the factory so I had to drill them out a little more. I would suggest having a 1/2ā€ drill bit handy along with some touch up paint to protect against rust

They mount to the factory pinch weld holes, the factory floor pan bolts, and the body-to-frame mount bolts. (17 bolts each side)

I should note that they include all new hardware(grade 8) but you can re-use all of your factory bolts. This is especially nice because I can now sell my factory rails with all the necessary hardware.

Highly recommend this product

I too, am a fan of Rockhard products. Have had 2 of their cages in separate Wranglers and their skid plates on my JK and TJ. Very well built, wallet conscious and great fit.

Do you need to remove the body mount bolts like on the Ace Engineering Rock Rails? Could you take a picture or pictures of the mounting bolts underneath?

I’ll get a picture tomorrow, but yes, you do have to remove the body mount bolts. There are three per side that need to be taken out and re-installed. I used blue LocTite to re-install as the factory did

Were they a pain to get out like the JL or were they fairly easy? Did you have to heat them up?

I needed a breaker bar to get the front one to start moving. They all three un-screwed to a certain point and then stop. You then just simply pull them out

Are these the "angled down" version? Do they work well as a step?

Rock Hard is a good company - they're good people making terrific, quality products (in the USA).

Likely needed a breaker bar due to the thread locker used by the factory.

I had the same questions but it looks like Rock Hard put up new pics on their website:

Some notes from speaking with Jason at Rock Hard about their Tube Slider Rock Guards:

* Rubi Rails have to come off - they can't both be used
* Tube is 0.120" thick
* They have an angled down version as well
* Lead time is typically about 2 weeks

Waiting on my order - I had looked at these prior to even ordering my JT. Order is roughly a week old - was told 2-3 weeks so hopefully right around Halloween. Personally went with the angled up version - Happy they are Made in the USA and with the quality of the product. The value to performance is higher than some of the step options.

The packaging above reminds me of the Deck'd system getting delivered - One large pallet making the neighbors wonder what I am doing now.

these have definitely made it to the top of my list. What have you guys done for the rear of the bed? Has anyone come up with something similar to what the rubicons have?

@LidLess07X - have you installed a lift yet or are you still on stock suspension and tires? Can you let us know what the step height is for your new rails? Thx!
