I asked a Jeep mechanic about the problem we are having. Without looking at the car, he said it sounds like the blend door is not fully opening
Hey Ron,
Have you taken your care into the dealer to have it looked at yet? Also, are you thinking of taking it to that Jeep mechanic instead?
Thanks! Todd

Here's the update from my last visit to the dealer on Monday:

"Tech scanned for codes and found none. No updates to the system. Tech ran actuator calibration and it passes. Tech tested all doors, and temp sensors they are working as designed. Tech called Star and they did not have any cases. Tech checked a like jeep and found it operates the same. Tech confirmed this is normal at this time. All systems working as designed."

I was told that they would have 'senior engineers' analyze this, however it doesn't seem like that happened. If they were the senior engineers, wouldn't they be able to figure this out and have these heating systems perform similar to other Jeeps (like the Wranglers).

So, the dealer is basically telling me that until this issue becomes widespread among other Gladiators, there are no fixes at this time. They agreed that this isn't normal to have hot air coming out at these temps. I'm assuming these systems are similar to not just the JTs.

Again, very frustrating!

I'm still waiting to hear back from my Service Case Manager at Jeep Wave.

Will keep you updated!

This is very discouraging. I have not had the opportunity to bring my gladiator to the dealer. The Jeep mechanic I know works at the dealer I purchased the car from. He is truly the only mechanic I trust, but is an hour away. He is also one of the few viper certified mechanics, and only guy I also trust on my viper.

When I do take it there I’ll relay all the info I can obtain. I don’t have much patience for this issue, especially for having the truck less than a month with. 200 miles. I’ll give Jeep three attempts to solve my issue , than will proceed with lemon law buyback

While disheartening, everything the dealership did and told you is probably on the up and up.

While not an automotive engineer, I work as an engineer in aviation manufacturing and we run into similar problems that are handled almost the same way to a degree. Unless the issue is a safety one, one off issues get racked and stacked and set with a priority level and cataloged with other issues to eventually get to and solved as time permits.

Just as your dealer told you, until it becomes overwhelming impacting and a lot of customers start complaining, the priority for engineering to evaluate and look at it does not get adjusted upwards.

I’m having this issue with my gladiator as well. I can confirm, here in Florida where the ambient temperature is still in the 80’s, the hot air is not a product of trying to elevate an already cool cab temperature. My truck is warm inside, and it still blows hot air above LO.

Englewood Cliffs , NJ, service department said the climate control was designed that way. I’m having a very difficult time accepting that answer. If I want the car to be 65 degrees blowing out of the vent, it’s supposed to blow out really HOT air? I contacted Jeep Cares and their effort was not helpful one bit

I have the same issue. Dealer said it normal
It's not normal if there has been a TSB on the JL with the same issue. I think we're left waiting for them to officially make a TSB for the JT

This is some positive news. Has any attempted this course of action?

I'm hesitant to bring it in, just due to the fact it takes my dealer FOREVER to get anything done. I had a great weekend and didn't notice the issue, until I do notice it blowing hot air set at 68 degrees. I'm going to try and hold out, until i can't hold out any more, ...hopefully when they do release a recall, it will be a smooth(er) service.

blowing hot air when set at 68 is not normal. Tech just had no answer, other than the (now standard), "that's normal", so they don't accept having to document the problem.
